Post by Jericoeagle1 » Wed Sep 06, 2006 11:46 am

Okay the last poll was for propeller aircraft this one is for Pre-Modern Jets say Vietnam era only give me your opinion on which Pre-Modern Jet do you think would be a good model for distribution. The F-4 was omitted from this pole because it could also fit into the modern era. I'm trying to catch more obscure aircraft for the moment. This is no means an inclusive listing if you have another craft in mind please tell us which one and why?

A-4. Lower production costs, a boatload of potential paint schemes, and a relatively high recognition factor. Can anyone say Blue Angels?

1st runner up: A Panther would be pretty cool too. 8)

This one is a tough one for me because I like so many of the early aircraft and I cant pick just one. I like the Panther, Skyhawk, Corsair II, and Crusader alike. But I think I'd vote for the Crusader because of its unique features and its representation as a "gun slinger".

Ultimate repaint potential is the MiG-21, but I voted for MiG-17. Better recognition due to its service in Vietnam, and the more I read on the MiGs, the more I'm finding the -17s were preferred by the pilots over the -21s. Also, the -17s were more actively used in ground attack roles. I like fighter/bombers :D

I liked the F-101, I voted for the Mig-21 because as Morian Minor mentioned it offers the most possibilities for repaints and I need enemies for my modern jets.

This is a tough one, so many good choices. For me it is a tie between the A-4 and the F-100. :D

I will select the none of the above option and go for the P-80 Shooting Star--aka T-33.

SEA camo

Post by supersonicfifi » Thu Sep 07, 2006 2:12 am

as anyone may have noticed i am completly nuts about vietnam era jets and my all time favorite is the F 100 super sabre in SEA camo ! (I was certainly the first to order at badcat the F 104 in SEA camo ! & first to post pictures of it on this site )
I play the flight simulator "project one strike fighter" with all these early jets and always pick up the F 100 in this camo !!!!
my second choice would be a F8 crusader (both F 100 & Crusader were used by the French Airforce & French Navy .... )

PS : i am waiting too the A1 skyraider in this camo .......... and the A 4 skyhawk would be the reasonable choice due to size consideration ! actually my problem is that I CAN'T CHOOSE they are all my FAVORITES

How can you discount the Phantom as "still in use" but include the Scooter and the SLUF? Or the MiG-21?

Of the list, the Scooter would probably be the easiest and certainly gives the widest scope for modding; the only problem I can forsee is the size & shape of the wings and fitting them into the standard size box - the Hornet and viper wings fitted cos the span was bigger than the chord (front-to-back) - with the Scooter having delta wings, will they still fit?
(Same problem for the MiG-21, too!)

If you want early jets, though, where are such planes as the Hawker Hunter, the Gloster Meteor, the Vampires, Venoms, Sea Vixens, Canberras, Javelins and Lightnings? 8)

Oh yeah, forgot - they're British so don't get a mention :( :( (Cynical, moi? )

F-100 The "THUD"

It just looks good.
It looks fast too.

:D

Bring it on!
One hundred and fifty three - 1:18 scale aircraft on the ceiling looks  damn good!

Sorry there, but like I said it was not an all inclusive list. There are many on your list think people would be interested in here. Personally, I like the Lightnings. In 1980 I saw one in Saudi Arabian markings in Ryahd (sp?) I was impressed with the size and power it projected. Wierdly enough the Olympia Air Museum obtained one with Saudi Markings. Everytime I see it I wonder if it was the same one.
