Modern British Webbing. Some WIP.

Post by steelbonnet » Tue Aug 22, 2006 1:44 pm

Hi all,

Well as you know I`ve done a batch of Modern British Troops, some have sculpted on pouch sets (also 2 XD Royal Marines with molded chest rigs) though a lot don`t,they are just in DPM uniforms.

Well I`ve been working on some webbing for my guys. To date i`ve made 6 x PLCE (Personal Load Carrying Equipment) web sets. Also working on 8 x Chest Rigs & 1 x Arktis Assault vest.

Anyway First off the PLCE Webbing sets.

These are made using a LOT of 1/6th scale pieces. The mesh for the rear structure is actually off a 1/6th Aussie SASR vest, the Buckles are the smallest 1/6th ones. The straps are mostly from 1/6th acc`s too.

The pouches are 1/18th molded pouches glued into place. Also the rear 3 pouches are the Big BBI pouch on many of the Modern figures. I dremeled them to give the impression of 3 pouches together.

Next the Chest Rigs.
I used 1/6th DPM material as the backing for the rigs though still need to add straps & tidy them up. The pouches as you can see are molded ones glued on.

Lastly the Arktis vest. Again using the mesh from the 1/6th Aussie SASR vest & material too. Again with 1/18th molded pouches glued on. Just needs straps added.
As you will see I found a great use for the XD Royal Marine Water pouch I have from 2 RMs.

All need painting in DPM colours once finished though you can see how these will look.

Love to hear what you think.

Very cool Ja well if BBI and 21st etc cant give us some brits we have to make them ourselves lol

looks like you have a ton of gear there ready to outfit a large unit. Great WIP pics Ja cant wait to see the whole unit fully kitted out and painted up.

I have one of the 21st marines and like it as a fig although restricted in articulation atleast he's a brit hope we will some brits released by someone. Great use of the gear though they will look really nice when finished and put on figs

G'day steelbonnet

Stop teasing us with only those partial shots of the 110 in the background, details like manufacturer and price would also be appreciated.

Apart from the obvious UK usage, I can also see the potential for an Aussie or even US Ranger Spec Ops vehicles.

Thank`s very much Scope.
I know I`d Never be able to make the ammo pouches in cloth like you do but these molded pouches have worked a treat & they add the weight to hang better too.

I`m really happy with the 6 PLCE sets & the Arktis vest. The chest rigs once straps & tidied up will indeed look great also.

Thank`s mate.

Spudkopf,
Thank`s mate & LOL Yea you noticed the tease eh :D Well just done a Thread on the WOLF XD WMIKs I`ve made :D Check it out & LMK what you think mate :D viewtopic.php?t=5453

Thank`s very Much Julien & RED :D

I`ve just finished painting the DPM pattern on these so I`ll snap photos later on :D

As for ScopeUK rubbing off on me,I`ve done cloth acc`s for a year or two now BUT ScopeUK has truely made me pick up my game play due to the wonderfull stuff I have from him.

I doubt you`ll ever see me try my hand at clothing though...LOL ScopeUK has that all to himself :D

Again thank`s.
