Hey all,
Well for those who`ve read the book "Atonement". Well Redcar which is near me has been turned into Dunkirk for the Withdraw of the BEF.
The sets are pretty much done now with Lorries & kit actually being placed on the beach & in the sea.
I`m hoping to get over there in the next few days to snap some shots & any I get I`ll post here.
The film will have Kira Knighly in it.

Near me DUNKIRK is being recreated

It`s based around 1940 & with the British Expedition Force withdrawl from Dunkirk, France.
Following France`s surrender to Germany during WWII our boys had a long hard withdrawl back to Blighty.
Those Brave men of the BEF were saved via a huge armada of privately owned boats & ships.
I`ve not read the book Atonement myself, though I will now
Also apparently they movie guys have brought in 60 Privately owned ships/boats to make the recreation of the withdrawl.
I`m going down today to see & snap some shots & when filming starts (not sure when) hopefully see the 60 ships/boats coming to rescue the guys.
They actually put a call out to the local area for 1000 extras,to play the Germans & British Troops.
Alas I could not due to my full time parenting committments
Look rather strange in attire with a 2 year old & 6 year old in tow........LOL
As for the Finders Keepers....HAHAHAHAHA Once Past the security I`ll try that
HAHAHAHA
Though not sure how easy towing a Bofor gun will be

Well I went down to where it was all set up.
It was a drizzling day so I hoped it was going to be less people around & easier to get onto "set" & take some photos.
Alas they were actually filming so we were NOT allowed anywhere near the area they had recreated
Plus there was a Large crowd to watch what we could see from our angle point (which wasn`t much).
The lads playing BEFs were all on bikes riding around the Stagehand Equipment lorries to warm up for their scenes.
Certainly looked like a battlefield, in the distance lots of old transport wagons & the Local hotel had been reworked on the outside to look all battle damaged.
I`m hoping to go down again & hopefully NOT when they are filming so hopefully can actually go closer & get some shots.
No idea if any stars where there, could just see the BEF troops.
During the filming they had so many of the vehicles alight on fire & some buildings too. Then the BEF running around. Certainly looks like they`ll capture the feel.
Again Sorry I couldn`t get pictures
I actually wanted to stay though as I was with my family,my daughters just didn`t want to stop too long, more excited with the notion of Icecreams & paddling (even though it was drizzling).
