Anyone knows about the BBI P-40?

Post by GooglyDoogly » Thu Dec 23, 2004 5:15 pm

I was browsing amazon.com/toysrus.com and came upon this thing:

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/de ... nce&s=toys

Is this a new airplane? Or did they just mistaken the P-51 for the P-40?

where exactly does it say that it is a BBI plane?

Could it just be the listing or possible relisting of the 21st P-40.

But I have been away for a long, long time so it may very well be a BBI product... hard for me to keep up-to-date.

p-40?

Post by digger » Thu Dec 23, 2004 5:30 pm

It says "other products from bbi" implying that it is one too. I have to agree though that it's a mistake. Either a 21st P-40 or a bbi P-51. (It'd be cool if I were wrong....)

AND it says item available AFTER 24 December. This is something else!! If indeed bbi does the P-40, you can bet it will look incredible! And if it's the case, we have a head to head challenge going on. I just wish it was a Hellcat....................

If you look at the box size, it is a bbi plane!!!!!

I would be surprised - they have the Sherman so to not have the P-51 would be odd....

if it is indeed the p-51 and not the p-40 that is one of the most bizarre switch-up's i have ever seen.

But, BBI is so, so, so, so good at showing us items... i don't get it.

plus i find it hard to believe that AMAZON/TRU online store would get this before any physically located store and move under the radar of Bad cat and the rest....

it would be weird, but i won't say that it isn't possible

well i hope it's not the case. This is Dragon's schtick; making what someone else has made only better. Good Grief...venture out a bit and do something that hasn't been done. It's not like there is nothing to choose from....

Read the information from the manufacturer: "The World War II 1:18 Scale US P-40 Fighter comes with one F-40 Pilot, open and close canopy, landing gear and highly detailed finishing!" Sounds like something that would come from a non-English speaker (bbi in Hong Kong), not from 21st in California. I'd order if I could find a free shipping coupon, if it arrives and it is 21st, I'd just return it because it's not what was advertised on the site.

I imagine that its the BBI P-51. We should have heard something about a BBI P-40 as BBI seems to keep better updates on their stuff than 21st. Also, I've seen typos on Amazon before!

Someone order and prove me wrong!

Looking through the othe BBI offerings, I dont see the M4A3 105MM listed. They do however list a M4A3 E2 which would be the Jumbo version of the Sherman. No picture. Mayne the P40 is another error on their part

typo city.....it also say it's 1/8 scale instead of 1/18. I don't think we should be trusting amazon too much...

A P-40 from BBI? Sounds like a typo to me guys. But hey who knows? I would think that Bad Cat would have the scoup on it if it were true and nothing is said on their website about it so I'll pass by it unless I see some photos first. I hope BBI considers the F6F for its next release. This is a WW 2 fighter that deserves to be done in 1/18th scale by 21st or BBI. I'm pretty much tired of seeing Corsairs, Me-109's, Thunderbolts ect. Spitfires have been pretty much have had their run with me as well as the P-38. Now I want to see a Hellcat, Zero, and the much promised Avenger.

Mustang

Post by ParatrooperCarbine » Tue Dec 28, 2004 7:13 pm

I'm sure it is the Mustang. Amazon makes mistakes like that all the time. They did it with the Stuka, they did it with the 1:6 Ardennes figure (for about 2 months) and they had the wrong picture up of a 1:12 figure that led me to order 9 and have to return them all.
