Any 1:18 aircraft accessories out there?
Are there any 1:18 parts for our aircraft i.e. detailed cockpits, landing gear, ordinance, that we can modify or planes with? Are there any highly detailed 1:18 R/C accessories for radio controlled aircraft out there?
I would like to have a detailed undercharge and door for my F-18.

I don't think you'll find much. You're up against aerodynamics. 1:18 is still relatively small for actual flying aircraft and the compromises in scale to make them flyable leave you with some rather obvious, er, shall we say, discrepancies, particularly when it comes to wing shapes, so spending a lot of time and effort on ultra-spec scale parts kinda looses it's lustre.

Oh no, I don’t want them to fly, LOLFlytiger wrote:I don't think you'll find much. Planes were sometimes covered by camo nets, surrounded by crates of ammo, fuel drums, etc.. There was usually fencing somewhere to keep the saboteurs away.
Build o rama makes several of these items that might spruce things up a bit. All in 1:18.
They also have a welding torch, tank and toolbox set.
Check out this list:

There's also a thread somewhere on here about a military firetruck. It's in 1:16 (I think) but it looked pretty good.
You could make some wheel chocks from wood, or whatever with string attached.

Thanks for the link,
But I am looking to replace my landing gear on my F-18 with a more realistic one, if there is one out there..
Also extra ordnance

I contacted HPH
Is it true? are they copys from Hph?
I feel this is a slap in the face from HPH, but fear not I hear there are Companies that are starting to come to in to this emerging market to offer accessories, Only time will tell when it will happen.
I contacted HPH and here is what they had to say

Dear Patrick,
I know that Bbi and 31. century toys are pretty nice- you are right - are toys. And usually are copy of our original models:-).
Upgrade of your models with new landingsgear will be not possible, becouse our landing gear not fit into this plastic models.
Thank you for email!
Best regards
Jaroslav

Re: I contacted HPH
I suspect that Admiral, BBI & C21's models (or anybody elses!) are only "copies" of HPH products since HPH models are as near-perfect miniature replicas of aircraft built by Boeing et al as they can make.VMF115 wrote:Is it true? are they copys from Hph?
The Smiley makes me think that Jaroslav Potmesil is poking a bit of fun at the other guys - a bit like the way aeormodellers sometimes look down their noses at people who build plastic kits because they don't fly... well, not more than once

Of course, if you were to ask the guys-n-gals at Boing, some of them would be only too pleased to tell you that even HPH's fine products are nothing but toys when compared to the real thing...

If you want to improve the accuracy of your model but lack the skills of some of the other forum members, why not ask at your local model or hobby store if there is anyone nearby who would be willing to do the work for you?
For inspiraation, there's always Mig29K's work on show in the 'Customs' section. Of course, every time I look at the work he does (and that of others like Steelbonnet etc) all I want to do is go sit in a corner and blub...

Tackling something like this in 1:18 is going to require extreme modeling skills, especially if it has to be made to function.

Your're looking at hours and hours of custom work at ~$25-$35 per hour.

Thats why I wish Tamiya or some one else would make a dress kit for the 1:18 scale Aircraft or Armor.Flytiger wrote:Tackling something like this in 1:18 is going to require extreme modeling skills, especially if it has to be made to function.
