Post by Teamski » Fri Aug 04, 2006 4:47 pm

I threw out all of the boxes to my opened planes, tanks and vehicles!! I'm free!!!!! MMUUUAAAGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!

I got so fed up with climbing over boxes and boxes, I got rid of them! I still got TONS of MIB stuff that I went overboard on, above and beyond the 2 per scheme policy...... Silly really.....

I did that as well, but only to a certain extent. I just can't yet throw out the boxes for some of my early pieces that I got at TRU and for some of the more "special" current releases. The boxes for items that are pretty common and at every Wal Mart in the country I had no problem sending to the recycling dump.

I've only thrown out one box and that's because it was beyond recognition. Other than that, I can't get myself to tossing them. I feel like if I toss them I'd be tossing a piece of the item as well. :( :(

I've had my "buy 2" policy since day one, including all of the S1 stuff, , so I don't have that loss feeling, fotunately....

Nah....I'm a throw it out, guy, only boxes I have are MIB items.

I do keep one side or end panel of everything I have, just for reference and inventory use. Rest of box, cut up and out.

I'm forced to do that. Think about how much room six 1/6 Command Cars boxes, two WSC, four Kubels, two AH German half-tracks, not to mention just the shipping boxes for my big guys, Sherman and M-10....and everything else I have that 21C made in 1/6.

Have pity on us 1/6 guys.......we couldn't keep the boxes if we wanted too.

Boxes are the bane of this hobby. If you buy to resell at some future date you have no choice but to sacrifice your garage to the God of collector box dogma.

I have abandoned the box thing but it's a PITA to break things down into something that will go out in the garbage unless you have a dumpster to use.

I love throwing out the boxes. That means I have to keep my planes. I am going to be buried with my planes.

Mostly myth in our hobby - once opened box or no box is often irrelevant. Look at Centone's auctions from last week. OOB planes went for more than they sometimes go for NRFP. A lot more to resale than having the box. I think a lot of this is a credit to the type of collectors - who want to get their hands on these bad boys. :)

I like to buy stuff in unopened boxes because I know theres less chance of it being broke or something wrong with it thats not being disclosed.
Otherwise I trash the boxes. Some boxes I keep because I like the boxart.
I think I might Ebay my 2 ambush Panthers for that kinda dough before 21C rereleases them.

I do not even see how you could wait that long to open up the boxes. I want to open them up as soon as I get them. Somettimes perhaps in my truck in the Wal-Mart parking lot. The only boxes that I own are the AT F-86 Sabre - Jolly Rogers. The P-38 Lightning - Pudgy (V), and the Sky captian P-40.
