This post is so huge, I don't blame anyone from not following each comment but I posted Monday that during a conversation with The Toy Federation on some 1/6 stuff, Ryan mentioned my pre-order for the Avenger and he said both TTF and Bad Cat are getting no info from 21C, ...zip... on when they will get the Avenger. Means alot to BCA because they have an exclusive Avenger and now....zip... only hints that they will NOT get any Avengers. Wallyworld is getting ALL Avengers and our e-tailers are getting nothing. Alot of pre-order money to be refunded. I hope that situation changes.

Bad news for TTF and BCA, and us, if Wally and the pirates on eBay are our only source.

The BCT post is a bit conflicted: We don't know when they're coming but wait for them? They're not telling us anything but the next batch will be fixed? You have to wonder how much of it is just begging people not to buy the plane at WM and how much of it is just sound advice.

The reason they are probably not receiving much info is last time they jumped the gun on taking preorders (ie their shipping agent did NOT have them in hand) and then raised a huge stink when their order fell through. Much like how we cost ourselves info by being unforgiving with manufacturing delays. :P

So far, has anyone found anything besides the Atlantic scheme?

WM69 posted this SKU# 063874810181. Has anyone tried to call a WM and use this number to verify that this SKU is associated with the Avenger?

Interesting update from BCA, but I agree with Digger in that it seems a bit conflicted. I will not cancel my preorder as I have yet to find any Avengers in my AO (despite them getting good coverage elsewhere) and even then, I think I just might keep it and get a second repaint, especially if the small imperfections have been corrected.

As for the imperfections - namely the screw holes - it reminds me of when the first Razorback P-47s came out. Remember the wierd canopy that couldn't even slide open and just popped off? The problem may very well get fixed, but I still can't wait to find the plane, knowing that they are out and a number of board members are finding them.

After waiting all this time, I feel like my "check is in the mail".

It's around and with all the new stuff popping up in my local Wally, who had zippo 21C stu,ff for a year.......I still have faith. 8)

I verified the SKU number with the Colony store, ("Yes it's in our system for $69.95") however, they weren't able to tell me if there were any in stock.

Any insider information to avoid contributing to Exxons 3 billion profits?

Many times, you can go to a Walmart and hunt down someone with an inventory scanner.. Give them the SKU and they can wirelessly check invenotries in their store and surrounding stores.. I used to do that when I was hunting 32x planes.. The person working in toys scanned the SKU and told me which stores in the area had what I needed..

I am trying to save some gas on the "AVENGER QUEST" so, I am calling the WMs in my area. I called one so far. Got the toys person and gave her the SKU#. She had to find her scanner and punched in the number.
It didn't show up. So, I assume that if it's not in their (individual store) system the SKU doesn't show up. I work in a company that has centralize purchasing and the part HAS to be in our system for anyone to sell/buy the part.

Oh, btw - the toys person told me they take the first 2 numbers off the SKU#. Wierd huh? Why have 2 more numbers than needed? :?
Another strange ways of Walmart...

I would like to chime in on the imperfections of this MASSIVE beauty. Yes the screw holes are there, but because many of them are only on one side, I have chosen to display my BEAST with the screw holes not visible. I have it displayed with wings folded, next to two 21st Avengers, and they are both dwarfed by this bird. I only wish I had a camera to show it, but I am sure many of you on this board already know this. I choose not to comment on what BCA is now saying, as there are some on this board, Digger and others, who remember my incident with them, which is now ancient history. I will admit to you here, but not to my wife, that my eyes are definately bigger than my display room. I came home with too many than I can use or even store. Four are now sitting in her sewing room, which I have tried to keep here out of.
Out of the ones I brought home, I did find one that had a really bad paint job on the tail, the 17 was really bad, so that is the one I am displaying. I always open the boxes, that is how I found two bad ones in the store (one broken prop, the other missing the ball turret.
I am willing to part with at least two of these planes to anyone who wants them. Either I sell them to members for what I paid 69.97 plus 5.20 for tax. or I will have to haul my but back to Whidbey Island next week and return them. I refuse to use eBay for these as the prices are too high for me to charge collectors, such as us. I deal and sell/repair antique electric trains, so shipping is a little less as I use FedEx ground and get a better rate on sending things out. I have done this with trades on this board and shipping has never costed more than 12-15 or so.
Bottom line Guys, I love this BEAST,, but in my eagerness to complete this quest for the Holy Grail, I acted like a kid in the candy store and took what I could get away with. :)
You can check my trade record, etc., I'm not a scammer. I buy all of my airplanes from Skyraider and he and others here can vouch for me.
All I want to do it try to help some of you out here that have waited as long as I did for this plane. I too went with ToyFed and they returned my $$$ today thru PayPal. I know it hurt his bottom line, and I feel bad that 21st did that too him.
So, enuf of this, if anyone wants these, please let me know before I haul my backside back to the Island, and have to take the wife to the Navy Exchange, Ugh.
Thanks and good luck hunting for this must have airplane for our collections.

I contacted the four WMs in my immediate area giving them the SKU# with no luck... I did call another store about 60mi from my area (Los Banos, Ca) which had the plane in their system, but couldn't find any in stock even though they supposedly looked... Another store that was a little closer to home (Madera) aparently has the plane in the system as well, but it is on order and could take up to 3 weeks to get there. They did take my name and number and will supposedly call when it gets in. This is all very annoying!

:!: :!: Some may never see an Avenger in their local Wal-Mart.

I contacted a close friend today that works at the Wal-Mart corporate headquarters, He said that distribution on the Avenger depends on how well 21st XD sold at the individual Wal-Mart’s. If 21st XD was a poor seller they might not sell them at the Wal-Mart that did not do well with XD. In other words the Wal-Mart’s that did well with 21st toys will get more of them. I hope this helps

It most certainly does. XD products move very slow in my town, probably on account that there is a large portion of the population that is poor. All four of the Wal Marts still have the "red nose" ME-109s, which have been out for well over a year. They then added the other 109 repaints to those, but the repaints sold little better. That would also explain why none of the four stores in my immediate area even have the SKU number listed in their computers...

Now, on a more positive note, anyone remember this:

It seems that some of those lucky members that have found these planes may now have the complete 21c aircraft lineup for 2004

I am sure every one here that wants an Avenger will have one, the problem is do we want to get gouged to own on? I don’t, and I am sure no one else wants to either.

I think the shipping expanse on UPS ground must be anywhere from 15-20 dollars.

I am guessing at least 120 dollars to own one unless you have some other contact

Btw that is a cool pic

Checked the Livermore and Pleasanton, CA WM's today. No sign of the Avenger. Did find the M48 Pattons though. :D

I just checked the Ceres, CA Walmart on the way back from the Post Office. They are are in reorg mode so the toy department is now where the crafts department was, so I don't think they want to have Avengers on the floor at this time. They just had one ME-109, 1 TOW Mutt, and one hard top Hummer.

Nathan, Let me know if you can't lay your hands on the beast and I'll bring one for you you the next time I come to Fort Worth. I can do the same for any of you other guys that live in the area if we can find a central place to meet. Warhawker do you need one? Todd I can meet you soon in Austin if they don't show up there. They are at one store at Loop 410 and Rigsby.

The Florida stores I've been seeing look like they are going to reset, empty shelves, the layout plans taped to the shelves.

OR BCT had good intel and moved with the information supplied to them, rather than trying to pull anything, as some suspect. I feel confident that BCT knows HOW to run a business and can only rely on WHAT they are told by a supplier. It's tiresome to see some companies being run-down verbally and always being shown, or tried to be, in a poor light. Basically, IF a person does not KNOW what is happening, FACTUALLY, don't plant negative seeds. There is a German word for this: Schadenfreude....pleasure taken from some else's misfortune.

I heard that some of the retailers out there are worried about low sales of toys at Christmas due to high fuel prices and the unrest in the Middle East..In a nutshell they want to get a head start on Christmas sales…at least try to sell the inventory that they all ready ordered for Christmas…. Could be a reason why the E-sellers are not getting the Avengers yet. All the major retailers want there orders now.

If you ask me if this is true it’s a bad time to start selling Christmas due to “Back to school” season.

BadCat's take on the situation makes a lot of sense to me. In any event, I'd rather hold out for a different paint scheme than this initial release.
