Harrassment

Post by catman » Thu Jul 27, 2006 9:06 pm

Hi, Ive recently been harrassed and cheated by 'Bob Hughes' over email. He has taken the names of about 5 differrent people claiming to want to buy things from me. He claims he was 'sarge55' on the old groundpounder's website. Hes cheated me 3 times already, and I have lost over $300 doing business with him. At all costs, avoid these email addresses:

lightbrigade666@yahoo.com
tankertrue55@yahoo.com
jarheadparrisisland@yahoo.com
flowerpowerz_1974@yahoo.com
combataselmerproduction@yahoo.com
walkingtall6662003@yahoo.com

Some of these awful comments i've been recieving include:

'> carol hughes <flowerpowerz_1974@yahoo.com> wrote:
> Call a doctor Get Help You are Sick
> Ask your parents to find a doctor for you if you
> don't
> already have one!'

now i dont know if this is one person spreading false rumors or WHAT, they are certainly lying about any comments they make. I clearly sent my part of the deals, and the oppssing didnt.

ig there is anything possible in this situation to be done will a mod or someone help here?

Catman I think you should have brought this to the attention of the Forum moderators, and let them handle your situation.

That’s the job of the forum moderators to decide, it’s always nice to be warned about some bad business dealings with others but, at the same time it can get messy.
I respect what you are trying to do but give the moderators a chance to investigate.

um......the forum moderators modertate the forum. There is nothing that can be done to 'investigate'.

All trades and sales are done at the indvidual's own risk. There is a sticky thread in the buy/sell/trade forum for posting favourable trade reports...you might want to review it before making a trade or sale. It is a good idea to post warnings, such as this one, in that form as well.

I will move this thread to the buy/sell/trade forum.

If you feel you have been cheated you can contact the person's local authorities with a complaint of mail fraud. If you have his home address you could also consider taking him to small claims court to recover your money.

Hasn't been a report like this in quite some time. Not since the 'Audey Murphy' case.

Always be aware of who you sell to or trade with.

One final note: anyone caught making false accusations against another board member will be permanently banned.

You sent over $300 worth of stuff on faith to someone who is not even a member of this board? :? And you sent stuff to the same person at 3 different addresses or he cheated you three times at the same address? :!: :?:
If he is not a member he cannot post about you so don't worry, although something is amiss it seems...

he can become a member..
well there were three shippments I was supposed to recieve. One of them was for another board member, I thought I could finally get some FB on here..
I sent out my stuff as promsied, he made up many Screennames all answering within the same time period, say the same thing, that they have heard all this crap about me. I've already lost money here. I am just trying to make it clear that whatever is said upon me is not true.

Wait, so you sent three shipments to the same address? It's still a little unclear what happened. Are you saying you owe stuff to a board member on here?
I understand you are afraid of what might be said about you but your story is a bit hard to understand.

Funny you say that because if you remember during the more recent of the two exploits the guilty party posted a pre-emptive post about how he was a victim and pleaded for sympathy from the board - which he received until the truth came out.
viewtopic.php?p=3581&highlight=#3581

This is another thread involving a trade with a phantom member:
viewtopic.php?p=4287&highlight=&sid=94b ... 642ae#4287

That said a straight story would really help credibility here. I would also remind all members in good standing that
A) # of posts is irrelevant to a member's legitimacy
B) A member who's first posts are in the BST forum should be viewed with caution
C) Members with no feedback frankly cannot be trusted as sad as that sounds.

I don't know the whole deal on this, but it sounds odd to me. If this guy is a thief why would he call your work? Or for that matter harrass you at all? With previous bad traders like this have only came to this when the honest member threaten the guy with the authorities, because it is a crime.

I remember working on a trade with catman and he got mad when I asked him to send first do to his new member status and no feedback. Could have been he didn't understand what I asked of him, but then he didn't want to trade any more and wanted me to buy his items. I don't know if this has anything to do with this situation, but this whole thing does sound odd.

Anyway, I would suggest to catman to build trust (feedback) on the board before dealing with any new members with no feedback. Even if that requires you to send you items to the trusted member (with feedback). And always a good practice is not deal with any non-members who contact you through e-mails, unless they join the forum and want to send first.

Mamaw nadon, that claim is false. I didnt get 'mad' when you said i need to send first. I simply said that I realized i didnt NEED these items anymore. I felt bad about that though, as I already had said I would purchase them, so I offerred to buy anything else from you. That is what happened.

I know that with the older members I am to send first. I would prefer it actually. Im not stupid.
