21st and BBI Sherman variants

Post by flpickupman » Wed Jul 26, 2006 10:44 am

I apologize if this has been discussed before, but I've been unable to locate this information through the search feature.

The question is this: Which variants do the two Shermans represent, and approximately what year were they introduced into service?

Thanks

The BBI one has a 105mm cannon, so thats a late-war Sherman, authorized December 1942, standardized August 1943

The 21st Century Toys one has the 75mm cannon, so thats an early-war Sherman, im not sure on the date of this one, sorry

Hope that helps

The 21st Century Sherman is a mid production model. It started service around 1942 and continued till the end of the war.

So then it's likely that variant served in North Africa. Excellent. Thank you.
