Interesting find

Post by flayrah » Fri Dec 17, 2004 9:25 am

Just saw this on auction. I don't have a need for it, but thought someone here might. I have no connection to this other than passing interest. Aferg, if this post belongs in the BST area please relocate, sorry.

Thanks for the 'heads up'! I just questioned the seller as to how he determined the scale...and would he supply the deminsions for the 'box' and the tire height.

would love to add this to my 1:18 diorama of planes and jeeps!

Trailers are tough to gauge size. What is actually a jeep trailer in 1:16 can easily pass for a three quarter ton (CC) trailer in 1:18 size.

The tailer pictured looks to me to be a three quarter ton (CC) or a ton & a half ton trailer for a Duece & a half. Either way all you have to deal with is the pintle hook broken off in the picture. Either way, nice find.

Thanks, 3toughtrucks! But would a 3/4 ton trailer look OK with a 1:18 jeep? The hitch issue could be fixed....

No, the 3/4 ton trailer wouldn't look good pulled by a jeep. But if you are making a diorama, all kinds of trailers can be sceen standing around. It would not be out of place. The trailer would look good behind a CC, if it's being towed.

In the real world, I pulled a jeep trailer behind my 3/4 CC and my M-37. The trailer didn't look bad. A buddy wanted to pull more so he bought a duece trailer (1 1/2 ton), took off the duece tires and mounted 3/4 ton size tires, and pulled it around for years. He took it to shows and even the old fuddy duddy rivet counters thought it was great.

Trailers in the real world or in our dolly world leave a lot open to our imagination.

You have been a real help, 3toughtrucks! I haven't heard back from the seller, and my diorama space is limited...I will have to 'sleep' on this one! Hate to see this item go, though...it looks pretty good from the pic.
