XD Displays

Post by Razor17019 » Sun Jul 16, 2006 8:24 pm

I thought I would share a few of my XD displays. I am working on doing a complete dioramas for my displays- but has not happened yet.

(I just got my aerial view of Omaha Beach D-Day 1944 framed and will hang underneath the Normandy display/diorama I am building)

So here are some of mine - please feel free to share yours with us too.

(Moderators - if you feel this post needs to go somewhere else-feel free to move it. :D )

Here are my German Paratroopers defending their turf:

<a href="http://img234.imageshack.us/my.php?imag ... 144xq2.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://img234.imageshack.us/img234/2500 ... xq2.th.jpg" border="0" alt="Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us" /></a>

Here are some for my biggest display that includes: (2 Normandy Farmhouses, 3/4 of the bombed barn, 1 outhouse and a fountain set with a new center piece.

This is a yard sale find- a real working fountain that fits perfect in the round circle of the fountain set
<a href="http://img57.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dscf0150qq0.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://img57.imageshack.us/img57/4189/d ... qq0.th.jpg" border="0" alt="Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us" /></a>
On one side of the street- the Germans coming through and climbing up into the farmhouse
<a href="http://img291.imageshack.us/my.php?imag ... 152fo5.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://img291.imageshack.us/img291/3627 ... fo5.th.jpg" border="0" alt="Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us" /></a>

Americans in the other farmhouse waiting for the right moment to spring their ambush on the Germans (I wouldn't trust that dog)
<a href="http://img57.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dscf0156je8.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://img57.imageshack.us/img57/2685/d ... je8.th.jpg" border="0" alt="Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us" /></a>

Up in the rafters behind the barrels, in the outhouse and behind the brickwall are some US soldiers ready dish out some yankee doodle damage to the Germans

I'd like to see more of this.

I have an idea to re-create a map from a game i play called "Call of Duty", lol might be fun to recreate carentan as a diorama.

Great idea for a topic! I wish I had more to share, however, alot of my displays are more temporary, due to space concerns. Most of my armor & troops are stored in a large cabinet, however, the vehicles (which often have riders & gear) constitute mini-displays of their own. Here are a couple displays that I've done and that were set up for a while:

The vast majority of my "displays" have been temporary dioramas that I set up, attempt to photograph realistically, and then dismantle. You can see them on my website through the below links or my website button :)

Bird,
I don't have access to my online photo albums at the moment.
I will pm or post when I do.

Tman,
Can you post your "Award" winning photos of your Marines from the 21C contest?? I bet Bird would like to see it.

I will post some of mine I submitted later tonight.

It is actually the signature photo at the bottom of my postings 8) Anyways, here is a larger version of the winning photo:

This got 2nd place, which translated into a free XD Dodge WC-63 1 3/4 ton truck :D

I took it using the "sepia" function on my digital camera; the soldiers were standing in a large houseplant pot with the vegetation and a landscape background attached to the wall behind. The secret to the illusion was all in the camera angle 8)
