could also be they have exclusives from Admiral coming. Whatever the case, good news for sure.

I suspect we will still see the bunker hill avenger....it probably just won't be a BCT exclusive
i never met an airplane i didn't like...

Interesting observation:

Did you notice on the Bad Cat website home page there is a new aircraft being shot at by the Jap Zeros.

It's a SBD Dauntless!

I will take that as a definate hint.

I did notice that and I remember A) When Mike asked why there was not more interest in that bird and we confirmed there was, and B) when we had the single engine AC poll and that plane kicked ass!

There is also another aircraft some distance behind the Dauntless. It's hard to make out the make & model.

My first reaction was that it looked like a F4F WildCat of perhaps the F6F HellCat.

Take a look to see if you can ID this aircraft.

Perhaps it is another hint.

The Dauntless on the BCA page is the 1:72 HobbyMaster "Battle of Midway" version. I've got one sitting next to my computer as I type. Its an excellent model and if you collect the smaller scales, I recommend it! The plane in the background, I think, is an image of a 1:72 Hellcat produced by Dragon.

Now, I'm not going to do any speculating or wishing, though I will say a Dauntless would be cool! This aircraft practically won the Battle of Midway and was a mainstay US divebomber. One could do alot with this plane in 1:18 as far as detail and function. Then there is the size: comparing a couple 1:72 examples of a Dauntless and Stuka, the Dauntless is smaller in both wingspan and fuselage length, meaning it could fit within the standard 1:18 AC box.

standard box myth

Post by digger » Wed Jul 12, 2006 8:38 am

I think we can stop worrying so much about what would fit "in the standard box," especially when AT doesn't have to concern itself with retail shelf space. Think about it - there is the HUGE F18 box, the smaller F18 box, the F16 box, the skinny little bbi Zero/P-51/Corsair box, the random AT F86 box, the Apache/BH box, the P-38 box, the standard 21C box and whatever box the Avenger shows up in. The "box" concerns can be shelved for future speculation I believe..

I think what I was trying to get at was the fact that a Dauntless would be smaller than the XD Stuka and thus, size-wise, a feasable aircraft that nonetheless has alot of potential for detail and functionality w/o the complexity of the Avenger or the price of the F-18.

I agree Box size is really irreverent, if Box size was important the F-18 or the F-16 would not be produced, btw way the Box size for my “Golden Dragon” F-18 came in the smaller cardboard box, and the fuselage was split in two. I suspect that my other f-18 will come the same way. However my “Jolly Rogers” F-18 came in the standard “Long Box” for retail display.

Btw way I have gone to school for Business and have been in retail management for a few years now, and just look at Wal-Marts Huge RC cars!!!

So I agree Box size is irreverent, Next topic.

why is this discussion of the 3 new aircraft to be released through BCT under the BBI thread? wouldn't a stand alone topic be better?

 I put it here as A) this thread is quiet (what else is new :? ) and B) bbi has to be involved as BCA said manufacturers plural. I don't care where it goes as I just wanted to call attention to the announcement.

I hope we are on the verge of seeing a 1/18 A-10 with this news. A)It has been about a year, which everyone says is around the right amount of time to get a new model to market and B) the comment was made that (if it were done) "tentative plans" for release would be Fall of 2006. October and November are Fall Months.

I hope I get to enjoy this Thanksgiving meal with my family.... :?

The m1 is terribly detailed and lacks almost all playability. On the other hand it is a 1/18 scale M1! And that means HUGE! You will likely never see another so I have to recommend it as at the least a great display piece.

They were $35 last week at MTS, but are now only up to $40 so I would buy one there:

picked up the BBI sniper today at a TRU and they had the older heavy weapons sets on clearance for $3.78
sniper is very nice and well worth the $4.99 price tag.
only you have to force his hands to hold the weapons.

weapons

Post by digger » Tue Jul 18, 2006 7:52 am

These came and went very quickly. I got a set from a trusty member of this board but I have to say I never saw them in the store myself. Great weapons, hopefully they run them off again. I'd love to see the new modern weapons in a pack as well (M4, M60...etc..).

Are these weapons sets the ones that came with the "futuristic" machine-grenade launcher that is destined to replace the .50 cal guns in the US arsenal? Sorry, the exact name of the weapon illudes me at the moment

That F-18 looks pretty good and its at a really good price for a $90 aircraft.

A few bbi Wishes

Post by Tinman » Sun Aug 06, 2006 12:50 pm

For the first time in many months, I took my bbi Sherman down off the shelf this weekend, and spent some time "playing" with it (as my wife says - I say that I'm "setting it up.") Not perfect, but still a very fine piece of plastic armor. Wish bbi would make another WWII tank (I realize that this is unlikely).

I also wish they'd release their tank commander and the pilots as carded figures. I'd buy several of each. I doubt they'll do this either, but you never know.

That would be awesome to have the BBI pilots and drivers from all eras sold seperately. They make the best so far.
