I am always amazed at the difference in price for these as compared to what we get from bbi, 21C and AT. That Blue Angels Hornet is a great example - for 20 times the price of our F18, you get a more detailed cockpit, more detailed gears (that are non-operational!) and a better paint job. And no pilot!
Seems like the discrepancy in price is a joke for what you get. Also goes to show how great we have it with the above mentioned companies. :D

Those are some pretty incredible models but it does make you appreciate what we get for the $ from 21st and BBi.

20 times the price? Try a 80 times. That F-18 would cost close to $8,000 with shipping (i remember the F-14 is $12,500 shipped). The detail is truly astonishing though. But yes, it does make you appreciate our little toys.. :)

even more the point

Post by digger » Wed Jun 28, 2006 5:39 am

 I thought it could be had for 2400 US BiN? Even more to the point then I guess. Now that I look at it again - is there really any extra detail than what I have mentioned? I just don't see the value, if any exists. Even the wheels look like just a small improvement over the ones on the bbi Hornet.

And the 109 kit had me thinking - what the hell do you get we don't with the 21C 109G, even if you put it together like a champ and paint like a pro?

 you're right. The BIN on the Blue Angel was $2400, plus shipping. That's pretty cheap compared to some of the prices they've quoted me; they must be having a sale.

The F-14 was $12,000 though.

If you look at the detail shots of some of the other aircraft the amount and intracy of the detail is astonishing, that plus the fact that they are not massed produced is what makes them so pricey.

My only bone is that i wish they'd make 'dumbed down' versions with less detail and more realistic prices. It would be better for us and better for them....afterall, how many people can afford this kind of money for an airplane model? As bad as i want the He-219 and Me-410 there's just no way. (it was going to be about $5k delivered for each one, with shipping, customs etc)

detaisl & prices

Post by supersonicfifi » Wed Jun 28, 2006 6:23 am

If you download the pictures show you will see the details of the ZERO un-skinned for exemple ! i must say that the price is justified by the absolutly realstic look of these models (because they are handmade by experts the price is in relation with the number of hours passed buildng it !)

INCREDIBLE !

even the F 18 looks as real as possible ! that's why i am so happy with my BBI F 18 wich is realsitic enough for .... my budget !

I am not shocked by the price but by the fact that i am not ready to commit so much money
