Would require some work. The wings can be made to be scale i believe. The space in between the nacelles looks good. Just need to modify the wing tips (alot).
It's short by 10 inches but because it looks stubby (in the video anyway) i figure that the fuselage width is pretty close to scale. Would not be too hard to stretch the fuselage the required amount, i don't think so anyway. If not than it scales in at 1/20.6.
Not sure if i'm going to take the plunge on this one. Would look pretty sweet when done though.

An SR-71 would be VERY tempting, but that bird just seems off in too many ways. Especially for the price, I'd pass on that one.

i dunno....the more i look at it the more i like it. If you watch the video and pause it right at the beginning with the guy holding the SR-71 in his hands, you can see it has the right look. Need to fix the wingtips (easy), change the tail fins totally (pretty easy) and maybe stretch the fuselage a few inches if possible (hard). The actual tip of the nose looks a bit too short as well but nothing earth shattering. I've got worse looking junk in my collection, let me tell ya...
i'm still debating....if i can find a cheaper one second hand i think i'd go for it..

Bummer, can't get the video to play. Dang realaudio.
Still, looking at the pictures, I think that taper of the forward fuselage is what gets me. Just doesn't look right. Then again, if its an SR-71, I'd probably be overly picky. That's the first plane that ever got me interested in aircraft.

the forward fuselage doesn't taper....it's just the way it looks in the photos (unless you're talking about the nose tip, which is too short and pointy). If you could see it in plan view in the video it looks better than in the pics, though, if you can look passed the gianormous wing tips. It's still far from perfect but usable i think. Ironically, it's my passion for the SR-71 that WOULD make me get this....i feel a mediocre SR-71 is better than no SR-71 at all.
Edit: I just notice the wing leading edge is wrong too...lol.

Let me know what they say, I think I could finish a 1/18th SR-71. All that would be needed would be the plastic pieces.

i've heard back from the owner. Looks like he can build a 1/18 SR-71. Price to be determined (gulp).

i would imagine a 1/18 SR-71 built would still cost the $500 or so Black Dragon mentioned.
I told him that i may have one or two other customers for him, for a 1/18 SR-71. If so, maybe we can get a small group rate or something. I'd be surprised if he's willing to resize the canopy, nose cone, tail cone and inlet spikes to 1/18. That sounds like a lot of work to me but maybe not?
