I remember when the 4 for Victory contest went up and I also remember 21st saying (at least to me) that the Tender Terror would most likely be the 3rd or 4th paint scheme and that it would only be produced for thoses who participated in the promotion. All the P-51's took about 3 months longer to produce due to last minute edits to the mold and other industry considerations. So in short they are all behind.
1:18 projects are always expensive and time consuming to produce so estimating a release date is always difficult. (you might notice that there has been no real confimation for the ETA of the Sabre and MiG-15 yet....) This is no accident.
Anyway back to the Tender Terror. There are only a few hundred of these that are going to be produced. So the paint process is a little more tricky and costly for a short run order. And while it does seem like forever ago, trust me when I say they are being worked on as we speak. w
When those loyal fans who were good enough to engage in the promotion do get thiers they will be one of the most valuable collector items and be second only to John Lumley's "one of a kind".
Tender Terror will not be made available to anyone other than a perticipant. So if any of you "ACES" decide you are fed up waiting to get yours and decide to e-bay it LET ME KNOW FIRST! I was not permitted to participate and I really wanted one.
Hang in there ACES, 21st has not forgotton and they certainly WILL NOT let you guys down. I know for a fact that the VP of operations is pushing hard to get them out to you. In my mind all the ACES who were bold enough to join in are some very great customers.
