There is a new WW1 movie coming out this fall called Flyboys An unofficial trailer is is online and the aerial dogfighting scenes look amazing. Although the Zepplin scene seems a bit farfetched. It looks like a Frank Wootton painting sprung too life.

yeah the zeppelin scene does look a little far fetched; sort of 'Independance Day"-ishly far fetched.
Otherwise, looks pretty good. Sort of too bad it's about American pilots though....no offense but American pilots played a relatively small part in the war, as compared to allied pilots of other nations. Would have been nice to show a French or British unit instead but i guess it's necessary for it to sell to US audiences.
Some of the plane scenes look quite impressive, the Nieuports look really good....a must see for sure.
thanks for the link!

i never met an airplane i didn't like...

Oh come on now. You know the US did everything in every war. The movies don't lie. Look at U571. As you can plainly see, it was indeed the US that recovered the first Enigma machine, not the British. You will also see that US pilots in the RAF were the real heroes of the Battle Of Britain. The Billy Fisk movie due to come shall prove this to a "T".

Cool trailer!
For those of you that get the Smithsonian "Air & Space" magazine, there was a good article about the filming of
Flyboys in this month's issue. Sounds like it will be a winner, combining the use of actual aircraft with CG effects, but relying on the physical aircraft moreso than even
Pearl Harbor did. There will be some things that will be stretched (including some of the manuvers pulled by the aircraft) but it is supposed to capture the look and feel of WWI aerial combat
On another note, its also nice to see a film made about WWI in the first place! Many kids in high school practically don't even know what that war was - yet it was instrumental to the course of world events through the 20th and into the 21st centuries. Soviet Russia, Nazi Germany and even the current f@#*ed situation in the Middle East are all results of WWI

I'm pretty excited about the film as well. I think that the movie should of centered around the Eugen Bullard charactor though. He was the true hero!

the original links for the trailer are dead. In addition it was not the official trailer for the flick but something made for Cannes. However the movie website does now have an official trailer and it is a little different than the Cannes version.
