ERROR???
Well now that these new BOB figures are out...I just opened the US tanker and what did I discover...
What is wrong with this picture...
Awe man!!! I won't be getting more of these!

Unless 21st C knows something I don't...isn't this incorrect?
Looks like I gotta pick me up more S1 BOB US tankers. Shame too cuz I like the shape of the arm articulation for the S2 series better...ah well

It is the dang toy companies that have sometimes made me want to stop collecting toys!!!
WAL-MART in JACKSBORO,TENNESSEE had alot of the GERMAN BoB figs---no U.S. FIGS--- and 3 Seaman 109s ( AS OF SATURDAY-MAY 13,06)

Markecho, when I got mine I thought the same think.
To my knowledge the 101st Airborne didn't have any Tankers. If you use a very fine grit sandpaper like 220 or higher you can remove the Airborne shoulder patch. Other than the patch I think the figure is fine, may get a few more.

MARKECHO---Might not be good tankers with airborne patch but with the 101st Airborne on the M-41 jacket and leggins they make for great 327th reg. glider troopes!!!

BoB II
well, you wouldn't be wearing a long coat in your Sherman either, but the picture on the card has the tanker head on the body with the great coat. I think the idea was you could create a guy from the 101st in the short jacket that the tanker comes with by putting any of the other heads onto the tanker body. In other words, these guys are for messing with/bashing/customizing/army building, not really an attempt at true representation. If you want to make a tanker without the 101st patch out of your BoB II guy, put on some S1 tanker arms (old articulation) though the shade is not a perfect match. I'm not saying this makes the BoB II any more desirable - I am frankly tired of these sculpts/heads (and the paint is sloppy) - but just that we should see these for what they are. Same goes for OMG figs - the jump gear is wrong for Market Garden but we should recognize that these were just some rehash to keep figs on the pegs in between new releases. Frankly I'm in favor of that idea.
I think 21st made clear that these guys were released as a way to give us some variety and options in our figure supply (extra heads, arms, helmets) and not as all new figs. We will likely see a US tank crew one day and I have a feeling they will be accurate to a tee.

Easy fix on those 101st A.B. Tanker Jackets
This is for Markecho any anybody else that are not happy with the BoTB II U.S. Tanker. All you have to do is take a extra right arm from Allen, Phares or the guy with the closed overcoat and pop off the shoulder/ elbow joint. Then you pop off the tankers left elbow and make the switch.
I just found this out while I was doing some custom work. Now you can go out and buy all your tank crews and trade off the extra overcoats.

Kagnew,
Man, you better hold onto that wife of yours.
I don't know if I could share my "toys" with my wife... not that she would ever want to...

SS figs
There are new SS figures available at Small Joes. I figure if anything is worthy of a post in the 1:18 forum it is new 1:18 scale product. Enjoy or don't...

And now to provide a history lesson...
Yes, French units of the SS did exist, as units did for many of the other nations that were either conquered by or allied with Nazi Germany. The main French SS unit, the 33.Waffen-Grenadier-Division der SS "Charlemagne" was composed of French right-wingers, supporters of the Vichy government, and captured French soldiers that prefered fighting to forced labor. It took part in actions along the eastern front from 1941 and ultimately wound up as part of the defense in Berlin in April of 1945. The unit was allowed to carry the French colors and practice Catholocism, save that it fought for the Nazis. The unit was never used where its soldiers would engage fellow country men, (ie on the western front). It's kind of an interesting historical twist and not the finest hour for some Frenchmen, IMHO.

The problem is not about French or german troops is the Sawstika "la croix gammée" and any other nazi paraphernalia
it's forbidden in France, that's all
and yeah French SS existed but only in the Waffen SS part of the SS, most of these guys were shot by the Liberation. (there are still some old vets from the Waffen SS in Far right wing political parties though so i guess some of them got away with it)

21st?
Does anyone know if this is an official 21st C product or is this a custom job produced by someone else? If it is 21st C, it looks like they're wisely trying to remain quiet about it.
Anyhow, the price for the amount of figs is actually quite reasonable if I'm looking at it correctly --- less than $6/fig!

Re: 21st?
Oh, this is definately 21st! And you are right, they wouldn't go out of their way to advertise it, that's for sure. I already got a shipping notification on my set!!! For the price, you can't go wrong for a set of 16 different figures.......parrish333 wrote:Does anyone know if this is an official 21st C product or is this a custom job produced by someone else? Hope its nice...
I have two sets coming. I know these are pretty much just repaints again but hope the paint job is worth it. I love history, especially WW2 and this just adds to my enjoyment of it, and definitely not admiration of what the Nazis stood for by any means.
