Glad I'm not the only one bothered by the lack of wrist articulation on the Spec. Ops and Night Stalker figures. Still, they are pretty awesome overall, and I do think the Seal figure was the best. In fact on those, I added goggles to the helmets and an older BBI backpack to make a more basic infantry figure that looks pretty good.

I must admit I was a bit disappointed when I heard about the wrist articulation but that can be fixed. The molded on cap is very disappointing as I really want someone to do a decent bearded fig its not as if they didn’t have a baseball cap mold as they used it on the swat sniper. Would still love to get some of them like a lot of other people here I think their gear looks really cool. Let hope there are more on the way!!!!!

That's where casting is handy dandy for me digger.

One figure and I have the parts and just need to repro them then when I get the time.

It's a fun little set, and I think the Spec. Ops guy is really a good attempt with just some cornercutting that is senseless on BBI's part. If he had wrist joints I'd probably think of him as my favorite of the wave despite the molded-on hat.

One other flaw the figure has, he's got painted flesh arms, not molded flesh, so the hinged elbows look like poodoo and show a dark olive green plastic when you move them. I'm not sure BBI's logic with the painting of arms and things. Mold them in flesh tones, it looks a lot better.

What are the WW2 figs that are casemates with the new spec ops guys? Are these just more of the WW2 infantry that BBI already did awhile back?

Yup - I think it is the 101st guy and one other. If you scroll back through the thread someone mentions it.

Its the 101st AB guy (with rifle & bazooka) and the 2nd Ranger infantry figure (with rifle, bazooka & funny face) that are included along with the four modern figures. Although two more modern figures would have been nice, I'm glad BBI included the WWII figures that they did as those figures work great for army building.

Yeah both are M1 Garand rifleman... One a ranger, one a 101st Airborne trooper, both with neutral headsculpts.

The Ranger's helmet is too small though, kind of a bummer but I'm hollowing a 21st or Dragon helmet out for him instead then. No huge deal but it seemed odd on an otherwise great figure.

BBI has just a couple tweaks and they'll reach perfection to me... Mid-thigh joints wouldn't hurt the figures, straps for packs so youcan remove gear without it looking bad... Maybe bent right wrists for riflemen... They're good figures though. I'm hooked Digger, I just need $ and a source, haha.

I don't have S2 Battle of the Buldge from 21st yet either... i gotta get on the ball.

What about working holsters? I agree that the recent round of BBI guys are getting very close to 1:18 perfection, but my next "improvement" would be working pistol holsters.

I say "improvement" because BBI did pretty good ones on their original 1:18 seals, army, and swat figs, and then they just disappeared from all subsequent figs! Hasbro has also done some fine examples of this with certain SW and GIJoe figs, so it is very do-able.

Functioning knife/bayonet/sword sheaths would be along the same lines. I was really hoping for that with the 21C Japanese figure with the sword, but oh well. Those have also been done before by Hasbro, and I see no reason BBI couldn't follow suit.

One final suggestion: shoulder straps on guns. Just about every real-life picture I see of soldiers in any army in any time period shows guns with straps. 21C has done a couple, but why not more? I often craft my own out of strips of rubber bands and superglue, and it really addes to overall look and possibilities for the figure.

EDIT: one final suggestion - ball joints for the neck. GI Joe has done these for years and when done right it greatly helps for all kinds of poses (esp. firing from prone position). The goofy neck joint solution 21C did on Jennings really isn't my preferred method. It looks odd and breaks easily. Plus a much simpler and more effective solution has been done already!

This one is huge for me. I just don't get it. WWII and modern, you very rarely see weapons without straps. Even Dragon weapons which are great did not address this. It may be tough to make them sturdy but I think it has to be done.
As for working holsters, I have just plucked them off the older guys and glued them on the newer guys.

Hate to disagree with you there Timbo but it is both. There are M4 tactical straps, and you often see the the khaki webbing for the M1 Garand referred to as a strap.

I have a question: Are the WWII figures like Maj. Welch, 1st Sgt. Carter, Col. Steele and Capt. Gordon still around or did these figures come out awhile ago? I have found Corporal Jackson and Lt. Hanson. Thanks.

They are at small retailers but I don't think TRU got the other 4 this time around (all 6 were originally there).
They were $26 for all 6 at GoodStuff but they sold out. Some online stores have them individually (Small Joes) and most have them as a set of 6.

Thanks for posting those pics on your website Bravo two-six very nice pics and good to see close ups of the gear that they come with. It just makes me want them even more! The sniper does appear quite nice its good to see a close up of that fig and the CIA guy especialy.

You're more than welcome mate! We know how frustrating it can be to wait for new figures (all new 1:18 items for that matter) to show up and be able to see them up close & out of package.

I'm not convinced we will see these in stock in the foxhole any time soon, if ever. That being said, I'll personally offer to try and locate some for you & post them across the pond, scope uk!

Simply email us your info via our site and next time we come across extras we'll collect them for you at our cost.

Landed some thanks to a couple of great guys on here. The paras for me are about the weapons and helmets. Heads and arms will get use too eventually. The arms have no sign of a chute so they can go on someone else quite well. I don't have a bunch of guys to bash with but hopefully will eventually. The top pic is of the new helmet in action - so much improved!
The other shows off the new M4. Any requests for other photos I will try to accomodate. Thanks again to the two guys who hooked me up.

The TRU in Tulsa has a huge restock of BBI stuff including 15+ Checkerboard Corsairs, 10+ Old Crow P-51's, Black Kiowa, Green Kiowa and a bunch of (Spec Ops?) or paratroopers and Desert figures.. They also got a huge restock of 1/32 FOV stuff including more airplanes..

Those figures look excellent, Digger! From what figure did you get the body section with the vest? Lord help me if BBI makes regular modern soldiers with the new articulation. I have 40 something of the old-style figures and may wind up with a bunch of extras as the new ones take their place!

I hear you Tman - if/when the regulars come out I will go nuts, as I did with the WWII guys (still counting, we'll leave it at "many"). There is hope for modern regulars if you look at the TF photos there is one guy there with knee pads who has not been released yet.
Anyway, the guys pictured are Super Humvee drivers. Their shirts/pants vary in shade as the drivers often do. I plan to use the arms from a new para as their camo is even better. I will post a pic when the swap is made.

Hi guys i have just seen this on Merrit's website not sure if it's been seen before but its mainly pics of the BBI Knights but in the brochure it looks like there are civil war figures. Sorry if this has been posted before.

I noticed tonight when I was at TRU that BBI slipped in a new/repaint WW2 Paratrooper. Compare the pictures. They are both labeled as PTE Ramirez and both have all the same gear, but one of them has a very green uniform with white American flag armband. His headsculpt is the same as Capt. Cleary. The ID NO is 216-98. This is the guy I found tonight. The other PTE. Ramirez is the one I bought when the paratroopers first came out and he has the brown/khaki uniform without the armband. His ID NO is 214-81. Has anybody else noticed this or any other green US paras? Is BBI rereleasing the WW2 paras with head swaps and green uniforms now?

Cool - thanks for the recon. One retailer had said the WWII guys had some "repaints" but the pics looked like head swaps, with maybe one new sculpt. The fig looks good in green.

I saw these and just assumed they were Market Garden repaints? That's how they looked to me at least...

I like BBI's paras but one set of jump ready figures is all I can stand honestly. They just don't have the pizaz of the combat ready troops.
