Product Review: 21c 32x Russian & Japanese Figures

Post by tmanthegreat » Tue May 16, 2006 4:13 pm

I recieved mine from BCA today (after a botched initial shipment) and all I have to say is "WOW!" These are simply the best 32x figures to date, IMHO. They exceed the S1, 2, & 5 Germans, are far better than any of the US figures and are better than the S1 British (I won't even mention the S2 British).

The sculpting is very crisp and the detailing is supurb. The proportioning is excellent (arms and weapons look right) and the faces have been nicely painted, even including white teeth and pink toungs on those figures that are yelling. All the poses are very cool and dramatic, though a few more figures in standard "shooting" positions would have been nice, especially with the Japanese figures. Each set includes a machine gunner figure lying prone on a rather large "diorama base"; the Russian female sniper is an interesting figure as well. While two of the Russian figures are the same that came with the 32x Jagdpanther, those that get the figure sets will be pleased to note the finer sculpting and detailing, making the new figures far better than the previous in terms of paintjob and detail. I would highly recommend the sets as they are certainly worth the price, considering what other 1:32 figures of similar detail cost. The back of the boxes show WWII British Paratroopers, so it looks like we may have those to look forward to, in addition to the US Marines.

I am curious to hear other reviews from boardmembers that have also purchased the Japanese & Russian figures! Kudos to 21c for another excellent 1:32 product.

(I know we have a seperate thread regarding the pending release of the new 32x figures, but since this is a review, I thought I'd make a new thread...)

British Paras? Crazy... I wont moan but 21st sure does things in an odd fashion some times. Russian inf no russian armor or anything Russian for that matter , Japs with only a Zero? Now Brits to go with ????

I guess as long as the WWII figure sets keep comming I will be happy with what we get.

You don't have an fov T-34? Nice piece and can go with your Ruskies.

Japanese armor was such a non-factor in the grand scheme of things I'm not surprised we've seen none of that...though you never know what's coming in the wild world of 1/32..

British Paras can fight the 30 or so Germans that have been released. I wouldn't complain if those showed up in 1:18 8) Heck, imo Brits are the #1 thing missing from the 1:18 figure line-up, and I have a feeling none are in store. :(

Here's some quick pictures of the new 32x figures. They aren't the best photos and the figures look much better in person, but you can see the detail :D

Russians - Note the MG gunner, female sniper, & molotov coctail thrower

Man, those look really cool!! Mine are supposed to be delivered on 5/18. I can't wait to get home to start playing.

British paras? That's going to be nice.

I agree, 21st needs to make some Russian armor and some real British armor. It's nice to use Shermans and Stuarts to game with but a Comet or Cromwell would be nice. Or even a Crusader.

So, Tman, when are your new diorama pics with the new figs going to get posted? I like your work.

Thanks :D Its been over a year since I last took some 32x diorama photos and will have to do it again some time. I already have some Russian-themed photos using my FOV T-34, the two origional 32x Russian figures, and some 32x Germans, but now those photos could be expanded upon. A Japanese dio would be cool, but I need the upcoming 32x Marines as well!

Someone posted that the Russians that came with the Jagpanther are the same two figures in this new set of Ruskies. Not so!

The officers are the same, however, the new figure is much, I repeat, MUCH better detailed, painted, & on a display stand.

As for the advancing infantryman, he is almost in a crouching position in the Jagpanther version & his hand is on the smg drum magazine. NOT so with the newset 6-man squad set version. He is standing taller, does NOT have his hand on the magazine & has a different display stand!!! The painting & detail is so much better in the squad pack, too!!!! I can provide photos if someone can tell me how to post pics here from my computer's directory and not the internet's.

Kudos to 21st for making such great new sets! And for those wondering about the Brit Paras, they go very well with anything German!!! The battle of Arnham "A Bridge Too Far" pitted German Armor & Infantry against the British Paratroops...remember? The set also depicts a prone British Para firing a Piat anti-tank weapon!!!!!!! Hoo-rah!

You can post pictures directly from your computer by using the website, www.imageshack.us to upload photos. Copy and paste the scripting from the Hotlink for Forums (1) section that begins and ends with The rehash figures are much better! You can clearly see that in the second of the photos I posted.

You're right, these are some of the better figs that they've done. I was a little surprised that the Russian lying prone is not attached to his base. I thought that he was broke until I opened the other three boxes. I don't think the sniper is a female. After showing my wife, she said that that is a man's body and facial structure and that there was no, um, breasts. I just need to find a FOV T-34 to go with them.

The British paras look pretty cool. I can't wait to get the USMC figs because the other US troops look nice but strange next to the Japanese Marines.

I still want those new playsets that 21st showed us back in February.

These are definately worth the price of admission. Go get'em, boys!!!

p.s. I forgot to add that the Russian that's lying prone fits very nicely on the German howitzer base. Just put the building ruin to his right shoulder. Try it.
