i've seen some of this seller's other customs on ebay. He has a custom Sherman Firefly on right now but the barrel is from an xd Panther. Totally wrong muzzle brake. Neat idea though..
I just noticed on the jagdpanther conversion set it doesn't come with a barrel or muzzle brake, nor does it come with any of the top hatches/detailing. I guess we'd be left to our own devices for all that..

That is a very cool looking conversion kit, and the price appears to be quite reasonable. That being said, I am going to go out on a limb here and say that a project like that is probably for the more advanced modeler, and some prior skill in kitbashing and customs would be heplful before attempting it. Don't get me wrong, I would love to see somebody do a great job with one, it's just that I have done quite a bit of scale modeling in my day so I feel I have a good understanding of what goes into a project like that. The ad says "takes 3 hrs. to complete" or some such, and I would venture to say it would take considerably longer than three hours to do a conversion like that properly. Still, I would love to see someone do a nice one, and display it here for us. Go get'em tiger....er panther

customs
One of our guys bought it so we should know soon enough how it pans out.
The Firefly seems like a joke - he stuck a new barrel on (as Andrew said) and removed some stowage. He says "too many changes to list" - what changes am I missing? Filling in the holes? The new paint?

on the Firefly....he also built a box structure behind the turret, a la the real thing, which was needed for the recoil of the longer 17 pounder gun of the Firefly. He also repainted overall. He could have built the rectangular hatch on the turret top, which would have been easy.
The bow machine gun should have been removed as well...i didn't notice if he did that or not.
However, he has inspired me to make my own Firefly, i'll sculpt my won muzzle brake and do the other mods myself. It's really not a terribly hard conversion.
I'm not yet convinced that the Jagdpanther conversion he has looks quite right. The rear looks off a bit to me.....may just be the pic.
I see lsc bought it.....he'll do a great job on it, his work is first rate..

Very nice..... and at $35.00
(the conversion kit above.)
If any of you want to try this conversion I've got some drawings that might help. You'll just have to blow them up to scale.

1/18 scale fireFly
Here is a site that has some detail on my 1/18 FireFly conversion if you are interested.
It shows a lot of initial changes and a number of shots preweathering. I don't have any photos of the latest look, yet.
It did take a long time. the lights and periscopes work. I have a complete historical story to go with it but haven't figured out how to get the word document up there yet.

I made it so you could add or remove spare tracks depending on the look or pretection level desired.

Hi Ferg,
The muzzle brake & barrel are accurate and the ususal shape. You can find historical photographic evidence on my photo site. The barrel was patterned after scale drawings found in " Military In Scale" magazine ( as was the entire tank). Also, all the 1/35 scale aftermarket barrels & muzzle brakes are similarly shaped.
I was at Bovington museum in England and took a number of photos of interest of specific parts of the tank , so I could be relatively accurate. My FireFly is heavily influenced by what I saw there. There are a number of pictures of the Bov Firefly, which I took, up on the website.
Having said that, I also have some photographic evidence to support the more oval shape. You can never say never when it comes to Shermans ....
There is some variance in the shape of front machine gun plugs as well.

very cool conversion the only problem I have is the whole barrel set up.The jagd had a 88 you would have to take a tiger and use base cut barrel off and shorten panther barrel and add tiger muzzle. You would also have to scratch build all top hatches because none of the panther stuff would work. The most impressive part of the jagd is the Barrel and mantle if thats not done properly it just does not look right. Here is shot of Jagd I did a while back look at mantle and barrel set up.

I got the kit in question and it is OK. I really just wanted the barrel faring and mount so I can make a resin copy. Shipping was a little much, charged $10 but cost him $4.05, oh well. I will post pictures in a few weeks when I finish the Jagdpanther. I was thinking of putting a whitewash on the beast. I don't if all you guys do this but I like to make my custom jobs recreations from vehicles I see in pictures. I have looked around but have not found any pictures with a Jagdpanther, with whitewash paint. Has any body seen any reference material they want to share? I also just wanted to say that I think this forum is great! You guys have always provided great accurate info. Thanks again
