21C 1/18th Humvees

Post by ostketten » Thu Apr 27, 2006 9:41 am

A local Walmart had several of these on the shelves in both hard and softop versions, and they were going for about half the price of some online retailers where they recently appeared in the $30-$35 range. I am not normally into modern stuff, I'm pretty much a WWII kind of guy, but the prices being offered at Walmart seemed very reasonable, what do you guys think, would it be wise to latch on to a couple of these??

The WM prices are very reasonable for the Hummers. The only drawback with the ones you found is that they don't come with the figures and accessories like the other Hummer command vehicle. My personal favorite of the new hummers was the soft top version. It can hold a couple XD or BBI figures in the front seats and a ton of cargo!

Well, I stopped by my local WM this evening, and walked out of the store with....you guessed it, two humvee's. This is getting out of control, it's reached the point where if I see something on the shelves that looks even mildly interesting I hear a tiny voice in my head saying: "must buy.... must buy...."

Don't worry... it happens to me quite alot. There must be some sort of a scientific explanation for it. Something about pleasure receptors in our brains being activated when we find something in the toy aisle at Wal Mart. After a while, it becomes chronic and we need to buy more and more XD in order to keep creating that excited "high" feeling

Anyways, glad you like the new hummers (I could only convince myself to get the soft top one) and you need to get some BBI modern figures, weapons and Build-a-Rama stowage to fill them with

Yes - we are addicted to XD.

The only way I keep floating is the ability to stay within WWII items.
Heaven help me if they begin a WWI line or Civil War Line.

I dunno, I collect modern, and I found it very easy to pass on the newest Humvees.

TMAN and STUKA, thanks guys, it's nice to know there are other people out there who understand my problem. :) Hey at $14.99 a copy they just seemed like too good of a deal to pass up, but I suppose I will have to get some of the 1/18th figures and accessories you guys were talking about, I don't want my new humvee's to get lonely.

Wow - at $15 they are a deal :D
They retailed at $23 and without a figure that was hard to swallow but $15 you can't go wrong. 8) My favorite Humvee deal may still be the one Tman mentioned - desert tan hard top with 2 figs for $23. :P Or the time I got one on clearance at TRU but that is a different story..

Got two Humvees in my collection, too from WM. Bought them about a month apart.

Got the armored command/TOW carrier with two figs first for about $23, then bought the soft-top transporter for about the same.

Like a few others, I found it kinda hard to swallow the price for the soft-top since it came with no figs or accessories. However -- it does leave room for kitbash/customization!
