Couldn't believe it! Two of them still there on the shelf!

Post by hotrodrock » Mon Apr 24, 2006 11:49 am

So 5 weeks ago I get a call from my nephew (grown 45 yr. old) who is off on one of his monthly 300 to 400 mile trips looking for Hot Wheels. Says he has found a particular 21st plane and do I want one. At the time I couldn't pay attention, much less pay for a new plane. Today, I decide what the heck, I'll drive the 60 miles to the store just to see if they are still there, knowing full well after 5 weeks they would be gone. Get there and lined up on the top shelf is a German Starfighter, desert cammo Stuka, P-47 bubble top, some 109s, and some FWs (boxes totally destroyed with the FWs). Wasn't interested in them so I didn't even look to see which ones the P-47, 109s, and FWs were. Well crap, just as I thought, they were gone, but it had been 5 weeks. But wait, I turn around and there they are on the top shelf of the other side of the isle. 2 winter Stukas in Motorworks boxes. No telling how long they had been there. Boxes were fair but weren't totally destroyed. Finally found a sullen employee to get a ladder and get me one. Now, if I can just find a Snake Stuka still on a shelf somewhere. Anybody seen one?

Yeah, a Snake Stuka for less than $70 would be nice to have.

Yes, the Stukas are old stuff. But thats the point. Lots of older 109s and FWs still around but you don't run across Stukas every day.

Funny thing, it was the snake stuka and m48 tank that were in bulk on the shelves at local tru for the longest time (around 2000 and 01)
