From BAd to even "MORE BAD"!

Post by 75th Ranger » Thu Dec 09, 2004 10:07 am

Hello guys,
I wanted to let you guys know that yesterday I was able to see the new M113 APC. The vehicle looks great, but I was so dissappointed when i saw the figures!
the new 21st century figures look like children figures, These ne figures look worst than the original series. The original series was good and then they improved the line with the Nam, WWII Paratroopers, and the Battle of the Bulge figures....but from there it was down hill for the 21st century figure line. The pilot figures that are coming out with the planes look unfinished and lack detail...the modern series idea was good but the detail and articulation was lacking finishing touches....now 21st comes out with these new figures that come with the vehicles and i was SAD to see them....the paint job of the figures is below average to poor quality...even the colors of the skin don't match, also the haed sculpts look like kids toys and not really like soldier men...
I started the 1/18 collection way back when 21st started and i hvae to say that their product quality in some areas like the figures has gone downhill since then.
I hope that something is done about it since to me the figures are the thing that brings life to the vehicle line.
take care,
HOOAH!

Have courage Ranger. Roy promised me that the figures coming out with the new vehicles will improve, particularily with any modern stuff..

I give the lousy 21C figures (like the ones that come with the APC) to my son to play with, and crew the vehicles with bbi figures.

I totally agree with the opinions regarding the new M113 crew! No only do they look crapy, but they can't even sit properly to fit in the vehicle! The other modern figures aren't much better, with the Eastern Warriors being the best figures in that series. Now the First series troops, the nam, BOB, paratroops, and most of the pilots are far better and are quality soldiers. I hid the M113 crew in a drawer and will perhaps use the hatless one as a mechanic. All my modern 21st vehicles (AH-1W, M-2, M113, Hummer) are crewed by BBI figures since those are the best modern figures out there.

Regarding the newest XD pilots, they aren't too bad. The P-40 pilot is great if you have the Flying Tiger or USAAF P-40s. I can't comment on the new P-47's pilot, though it looks the same as the pilot that came with the Razorback. The FW-190 pilot is probably the best of the new ones and the RAF pilot, though somewhat oddly proportioned, isn't that bad overall.

With how bad the figures are, it's hard for me to fork out full price for the M113. Really, it is in the same catagory as the LAV and there was a lot of screaming when it kicked out @ $39...........

Ski - please don't compare the LAV to M113. Granted I have a bunch of both but the M113 is far and away a better vehicle in all respects, from paintjob to "playability" there is no comparison.

Deffinitely have to agree on that one! That M113 can hold at least 8 fully armed BBI troops (2 crew, 6 passenger) with extra equipment - and all the figures can be closed up in the vehicle, like can only be done with the M-41 and Tiger! I have the desert M113 filled with the BBI Desert ops figures. All the doors and hatches open. Its the only 21c modern ground vehicle that has an opening engine. The treads roll nicely, and the baggage, while it could have been done better, is a nice addition. Plus, its diecast. As has been said time and again, its far superior to any BBI modern armor, especially the LAV!

IMHO the 190 is dead on accurate, I mean just look at the expression on his face. It like he is saying.... "Holy Crap we are really going to lose this war. Even with the 262 jet development we are gonna lose for sure. Now this whole Nazi thing is gonna get some really bad press and we are gonna look like criminals! -that damn Adolf for getting me in this mess. He is most likely dead in some bunker for all I know.... Man those Mustangs are fast!"

That being said I think the sculpting on the pilot face looks on the money to me!

LoL!!!! Now that is funny!!!

Sorry if I upset anybody on the M113 statement. I guess you have to really appreciate modern armor to a degree to trully appreciate the vehicles.
