Need Something To Do With That Spare F-104?

Post by Timbo » Sun Apr 02, 2006 10:29 pm

Saw this in a magazine I subscribe to. These guys are looking to use a wingless F-104 to set a new landspeed record. This would make for a great custom model:

I saw that at Edwards AFB last year! It was very weird. It looked too small to be a F-104... yet you know it really is :-D

I hope for their sake they've taken to heart the nickname "Missle with a Man In It". One small bump and the front end rises....then that thrust is going to cause and instant pitch-up. I wouldn't want to be the driver!

How funny I met those guys and sold them several F104s. Great guys. the 104 they have was a old NASA plane.
