I finally broke down down and got an ARF A-10 I'm trying to find a way of getting it to look like a nice display model. For not being true 1/18 scale I'm really impressed how large it is. But I think if they can make a doable F-18 they can also do an A-10 that will fit into a box.

From the measurements I've seen and taken, the ARF A-10 is only a gnat's hair off on the wingspan and fuselage length that a "1/18" scale A-10 would be. I definitely agree that if an F-18 can be done in 1/18 and fit into a "marketable" box size, so can an A-10. The box may have to be a couple inches wider, but surely that's not enough to hold it back from being done. I still hope we see and say we need an A-10 in 1/18 scale by one of the three companies. Until then, the ARF A-10 is a good place holder. Got to have it in plastic....

It's a MUST.

The Warthogs that were stationed here (McChord is within a few miles of me) were moved out years ago. I'm not sure where they went. They only have one left and its in thier air museum. Thanks to 9-11 you can't get in anymore to see it.

Sad to hear that. I know some of the tail codes for A-10 squadrons that I've found may not be active units and may have been moved or disbanded. I've read that sometimes when a squadron is moved back to a base they had been stationed at, they will pick up their old tail codes again. With all the base realignments and closings, it seems like squadrons are getting shuffled around like playing cards. A-10 squadrons have been seeing this as well. Maybe one day you'll see the A-10s back at McChord.....

Found a near-as-dammit (for the wingspan) 1/18th electric flight A10 here...

Me want one!
{/Stitch mode}
Best of all, me dear ol' dad has told me that - if I get one - he'll buy the electric motors off me since he's into electric flight and could do with a couple more motors... Result
So mebbe I'll be working on a new toy soon... I might even look into keeping it all myself and having a BBI-crewed electric jet to play with!!
If I get one (and if I can get my [Expletive deleted] camera working again) I'll post pics. Just don't hold your breath!

that's the GWS A-10, it's been around for years. You can get them pretty cheap on ebay, with or without the engines and r/c gear. It's made of styrofoam, so it will have a coffee cup texture to it but is nice enough piece. I still have faith we will see a real 1/18 one..

D'oh! That'll learn me!
Didn't realise that was the same one already mentioned - I thought it was a new one. Glad I found this forum or I might have been almost as disappointed as whoever won that Target thing on EBay...
Guess I'll just have to stick to the BBI & C21 stuff then...
Cheers!
Jeff.
