Review of Carousel One 1:48 Bf-109E

Just unpacked the first 1:48 Bf-109E from Carousel One. It's Adolf Galland's crate from August, 1940, JG 26. What's not to like? Comes with two sets of landing gear (up or down), pilot figure, hinged canopy, all bells and whistles present (pitot tube, aileron mass balances, antenna mast, wing cannons). Fuselage details nicely-scribed, including cowl guns. Comes with swastika decals for the tail, so you can leave that symbol off if it offends you. Landing gear have that correct splay. Paint scheme is beautiful. All in all, a very nice little honey! Snap it up! Available at On Mark, the Motor Pool, and The Flying Mule (I think).

I saw an add for this plane in the Air & Space magazine. It looks very nice, but the price turns me off. I know Franklin Mint planes are in a similar range, as are the Corgi 1:32 aircraft, but I would rather fork over the cash for a larger scale. Still, glad to hear that its a nice plane, and including the pilot and variable landing gear is always a nice touch!

Hey Veltro (did you know "Veltro" is Italian for "greyhound"?):
Go ahead and buy those Carousel One P-40s. They are very well-done, IMHO. Much better than Franklin Mint. The CEO of Carousel One told me more 1:48 planes will be coming out this year, and more still in years to come. Snap 'em up!
BTW, I know I sound like a shill for Carousel One, but I'm honestly not. I just appreciate quality when I see it! :)
Go Starbuck!
