Thats a good idea! There certainly have been a number of members from time to time that post pictures of their customization projects. I personally haven't done much - my desert M113 is the most heavily customized with the cruddy stowage being removed and build-a-rama accessories added. I also modified my 21c Shermans so that figures could be placed in the driver's hatches correctly and I made a number of custom tow cables for various US & German tanks. Then there are the headswapped figures. Thats about it, though and its nothing compared to what others have done!

I would surely contribute to a custom section.

I've never really done anything extensive, I've made some slight modifications to my XD Shermans to allow the driver figure to sit down in the hatch, I've added a tow cable or Build-a-Rama accessory here and there and I painted the inside of some tank hatches white, but nothing nearly as fancy as what many board members accomplish
Here's my customized desert M113 (it has since been further modified) and some simple custom German soldiers I made from the Battle of the Bulge and S1 figures

I'm working on a "Detroit Miss" P-51D based on the BBI "Killer Ace" Mustang.

These are my detailed aircraft. I washed the panel lines and rivits and added weathering and fluid leaks. I also drilled out the .50 cals.
21C P-47D "The Blond Angel" On this one I covered the canopy slide in the fuselage so it is no longer a pass through.

21C P-38J D-day. I removed the bazoka tubes and correctly staggered the gun barrel lengths. I added the nose art and other decals available from Bad Cat.

cool
Is that the playmobil "mansion"? That might be in my future.
I have to clean up and really display this POLA building I added to my growing collection. The piece with the stack (which is about 2 feet tall) is removable and I am not really sure where it should go. It works pretty well as modern or WWII:

Thanks Tman - your watermill is the reason I started to pick these up over the last year or so. When you first showed that way back I couldn't believe how well it worked in terms of scale (because they are more 1:22). I have been keeping an eye out for the one you have but it gets near $100. Still looks great.

Customs
I've been enjoying the photos being shared. Great idea, Kurt!
I'm working on a couple of custom Corsairs that I hope to share sometime. One will be a Navy Reserve FG-1D (Goodyear version of F4U-1D) in honor of my dad, who was stationed at Akron Naval Air Station while these Corsairs where there. (also, the Goodyear Corsairs where made in Akron and my parents and I were born there) Just a funny little personal link
Regards,
JimBob

Finally some progress on my DAK sPzAbt 501st Tiger.
The cupola 'borrowed' from my RC Panzer IV:

The rough cut after removing the mid-production cupola:

The turret all dressed up and ready to receive the new cupola:

and now the result:

I was disappointed to realize that I had misplaced the new cupola after it was glued in. So in addition to the cupola not being entirely correct in and of itself, it's not quite close enough to the side of the turret.

All things considered, I think it's pretty decent for my first effort. Certainly one of a kind.

If at first you don't succeed, try, try again. Then quit. No use being a damn fool about it.

Thanks!
It's looking like I'll be using the color I have now (testors camo green and poly scale german sand yellow acrylics). I know they used captured US Olive Drab in their schemes when in Tunisia. It's not a lot darker than the Dragon representation of #142. I've got a ways to go with it though. Scratch building headlight brackets, smoke grenade launcher brackets, etc. Wish there was some way I could come up with a set of correct road wheels. That's the only big detail that is left to kick my custom in the nuts so far as accuracy is concerned. Oh well.

Very nice job Pickupman. I am always scared of cutting up the armor but you did a great job with that cupola.
As for custom armor, esteemed board member BillGiff sent me the below shots of a new ACAV M113. Enjoy:
