I finally got the pershing,

it make a great static desiplay. I can tell it is 1:16 scale vs my 1:18 scale.

but the added rocket from my p38 make it look to scale a little

like a tank destroyer
whats up doc....

Black Dragon
You got the 'smoke and sound' Pershing? How are the smoke and sound features?

I'm bumping this thread because there has been some renewed interest in these tanks as of late. I just bought both the Pershing and the Tiger with smoke and sound. Both worked fine out of the box and sound and smoke work fine. Someone asked how the sound / smoke is on these things. I think they are ok, The sound is about comparable to the 21st 1/6 Stuart I have. These is a volume control so it is better off the bat than the awful 21st 1/18 rc panzer IVs. I wish that thing had a volume or no sound at all. Both the pershing and the Tiger have the same sounds. Kinda cheezy, but you get what you pay for. I have two 1/24th Henlong Modern Tanks, (Jap. type 90 and Ger. Leopard). I have had alot of fun with those and they never broke. I have taken them out in the dirt and in the bark chips and had no problems. I haven't taken the Tiger or Pershing outside yet, but I hope they last. I still have my 1/24th tanks and have never had a problem with them. I hear alot of people say this is a rip off of Tamya tanks, But they are listed ad Marui OEM. OEM means licensed, and sometimes use original parts. I found that the 21st tank commanders fit fine in these things. They are slightly larger in scale which it to be expected as they are 1/16th. but they are close enough that the figs look good in them. I removed the top half of the fig and fitted it in place with green stuff. That way the fig sits slightly taller in the hatch than if it were glued directly down. I have the tank commanders they came with. The paint jobs are terrible and they are kind of rubbery. I would have a hard time getting paint to stick and I dont like the sculpts anyway. I wish I had the 21st Tiger tank commander with the black coat, but I put a ardennes cammo tank commander in there instead. He looks better than the crappy one it came with. No broken parts on arrival although the tow cables are hard plastic and are quite brittle. I broke one while I was moving them from the side of the tiger to put a decal on under it. I just glued it back in place and it looks fine.
Same with the tow cable on the back of the pershing. As far as the smoke, There is an on off switch for it, so if you dont like it, dont use it. I turned it on and it smoked out of the box, there must have been some residual oil in there from when it was built. The smoke pump thing is kinda loud so i don't prefer to use it. The tracks seem fine and are fitted tight. I did some mega turns (super turns they call them) on carpet and had no problems. One of my 1/24th has a track thats a little loose and sometimes slips the track if turned too fast, the tiger and pershing I hav had no problems with so far. As far as the details being complained about in other posts, I didn't notice too much wrong, and all the parts fit correctly. There are smoke launchers that snapped on with no problem and two rear fenders that fit on a hinge so they can move up or down. They fit fine, one of the hinges came off the body but Superglue fixed that.
Overall, I would say that I am happy with them. I have two cheap tanks that I can take out into the dirt and shoot at each other without having to invers thousands into Tamya tanks. I would love to have Tamya tanks but I can't afford them. If I have as much fun with these as I did with my 1/24th tanks, I will definately be happy with this purchase.

These are blatant copies of the Tamiya kits, plain and simple. Tokyo Marui has nothing to do with these things, and they are certainly NOT licensed copies.

These are Hen Long, under many name disguises. Hen Long are notoriously crappy. Sellers change the names of the maker of these tanks so much in order to fool buyers it's not even funny.

That's the latest gimmick....Marui OEM...what a hoot. You should E-mail Tamiya USA or Tokyo Marui and ask them if they made a deal to reproduce these tanks between them.
