BBI - Blue Box Toys Information Q&A (Mike)

Mike:
I appreciate your explanation. I see now that the fuselage is from one mold and that it would be a big undertaking! I now better understand (even from a layman's POV) the problems involved! I do appreciate the detail of the BBI birds, so keep 'em coming!
Thanks!

Prop
I imagine that a four-blade prop would be a pretty easy change. But not appropriate with the current mold. The F4U-1A and D versions (which is the mold) only had three-bladers.
I also agree that the current F4U-1D mold is superb. I wasn't suggesting changes for improvement--it can't be improved
. Only for a version change...which is much harder than I realized.

FG-1A
Mike:
Thanks for recognizing the Goodyear-built Corsairs from Akron, Ohio!!!
"if you were sitting in an FG-1A behind a Pratt and Whitney RE-2800 at 1,500 feet you wouldn't say that."

F-16
I would really like to add an F-16 to my collection, however, it seems impossible to do so. I missed out on ordering them online because I was hoping to see them at retail like the F-18 I got. I just can't understand why BBI would spend so much money on tooling the model, and then not make more of these available to those who want to buy one. I keep hearing that they will return, but it's been well over a year....and nothing. I'll be attending Comic Con in San Diego....and I really hope that BBI has these available there.

Mike ~ I was wondering if the Target store exclusive Elite Force Combat Command line is going to continue? I think the sculpts are pretty good and the articulation is decent, but the paint applications leave alot to be desired. But I did see a custom paint application on one of these and it makes the figures very desirable in my opinion. I only go to Target maybe once every couple months since it is about 30 miles one way, I was wondering if there are any images of the already released products from this line that could be updated on the BBi website, shared with the forum in this topic, or be e-mailed to me directly?

Woohoo! I like Old Crow the best out of the D model European schemes. I think this is going to be a picker-upper. Now, if one of the companies would come out with Detroit Miss, I think my ETO D-Mustang collection would be complete. I have had a soft spot for that livery for a while now. I probably built a dozen Monogram kits of it in the 80s. And, maybe someday, that elusive B-Mustang will show up in 1-18. But, I guess I will just have to wait and see.

Morian, remember this from the first page of the bbi thread:
Mike says that "one day" they will make a Hind. Maybe the new baby Hind could be a sign.......
......or maybe it is the Hind he is referring to.....

"As for the Hind {i asked him about whether the rumours are true)....there were some rumours about it but we are not making it. This is part of the problem...some of our customers ( retailers) like to talk to some of our people and then they come away with some ideas of what we are discussing internally and next thing you know it gets out of hand.
We will make a Hind one day...but not in the near future...but I can say that we will soon release one item your boys are begging for.
Mike"

Question for Mike
Mike:
I'm a bit belated on this, but what is the history behind the paint scheme on the green Zero? Time period, location? Is it Navy or Army?
I admit that I was a bit spoiled by the historic background on the Pearl Harbor Zero...that was great!
The BBI Zero is great, period! I'm breaking down and getting one, too.
Thanks!
JimBob

Hi Mike
I apologise if you have already answered this but i was just wondering how hard is it to reduce weapons and equipment from 1:6th scale. I only ask as i have noticed that alot of PTE stuff is the same in both 1:6 and 1:18th scales. if it is easy enough what are the chances of seeing some of the 1:6 stuff in 1:18. i am desperate to see a new version of the M-4 with loads of different attachments and know that you do alot of versions of this weapon in 1:6th.

If you are referring to the pitot it is usually taped to the bottom of the box somewhwere around the lower left hand side and is easily overlooked when unpacking...if you have lost yours then all I can recommend is to email info@blueboxtoys.com and see if they have one available."

Mike I hate to beat this into a dead horse but why in the world hasnt BBI released an F6F Hellcat? This WW 2 Fighter needs and should be next in line from BBI. I think most of us here saw the prototype picture of the Hellcat at one of BBI's booths during a toy show so we know you guys have it. So why not make it next in line to be produced and released? You guys did an excellent job with your Mustangs and Corsairs, now I think its time for the Hellcat to be done. It would be a great partner for the 21st Century Avenger. I know its the same story of "wait and see" but come on can you give me a hint of what BBI plans on doing with the Hellcat? Or if they are even considering doing it? This was the Ace Maker in the Pacific and it had the best Kill/Loss ratio in WW 2 and for too long it has been overlooked. Nows the time for BBI to bring this improtant fighter out. Plus I think it would make BBI some money.
So Mike what the story?

So Mike what the story?

Thanks for your comments and you would be right my comment will be "wait and see"...but since you seem to be so convinced that we have an F6 and that it would make a perfect partner for the Avenger...perhaps we are waiting for the Avenger to arrive before we announce anything?"
