Nope. It is looking like next year... Otherwise I am sure 21st would have shown it. I have seen the plastic pre mold version and it still needs a little work but it should be cool.

21st really hasn't been too vocal about it because they don't want fans to become too restless waiting. So yes now you all know the new piece of armor that Roy had hinted about late last year. (yes some projects do take that long)

TTT is right about those plane displays! They are way cool in person and they do save some major space.

TTT, thanks for the extra recon. 8)
I have to say sticking the third figure in place is a good compromise between midget or nobody. Hopefully you will be able to "break" him out if you want to display it parked.

We had this KT discussion a ways back....still exciting though.
Hopefully we will get some new armor between then and now.

Did the Merit/bbi booth have any carded figures? :)

21C thinks the market is over saturated with 1/6 and won't have any more vehicles for a while, if ever.
Over saturated by who exactly? Let's see, Dragon produces hmm let me think..... 2 vehicles. Armor Hobbies produces well gee, 1 vehicle. 12" Joe is dead. Other than that you are left with generally $500 up to $6000 vehicles from the customizers. So yeah I guess I can see why they would think the market is over saturated. What a BS excuse.

Unless the items have been returned to the supplier - I have noticed about 8 1:6 RC tanks and Humvees gone from one WM.

It shows what price the customer is willing to pay for them - they sit and sit until they clearance for $79.99

I actually applaud 21C for mostly keeping the King Tiger under wraps. That year wait is going to be torture on the armor groupies. Really wish it would have been a T-34 coming. Oh well, just something for them to get out Christmas 2007  .

Guys:

Keeping the KT under wraps is putting it midly. I was going around the 21C booth drooling over the display cases and talking to this rep. Very nice guy and informative and friendly until I got him in a corner and hit him with..What's this about us getting a KT in 1:18? and he says "Well, I can't really tell you the KT is on the way but I can't tell you it isn't" OK, says I, what's this about it being metal?...and he says "Well, I can't confirm that the vehicle is metal, but I can't deny that either" OK, says I, will we maybe be getting this KT by this fall? and he says "I can almost positively say that the KT that may or may not be in production won't be in your hands before Spring 07".

I let him out of the corner. :? These guys sure have their marching orders.

BTW, that Marichi or whatever it is, is one neat plane. It will really distrub me if I start collecting planes. I feel it creeping up on me, I'm taping a show now on the Military Channel now on the P-47.......oh the horror of it all.

And guys, I went into shock when he told me 21C feels 1/6 is oversaturated in the market. When I got over my homnia, homnia, homnia, I did tell him we appreciate the sturdy, accurate and most of all cheap cost of 21C vehicles....that most of us 1/6 fans just don't want to pay into the thousands for these vehicles. Having a couple of hundred dollar vehicle (Stuart, WSC) fall off a shelve or table is just not the same as watching a $1200 custon resin piece make the same dive and shatter.
The rep couldn't be made to see my reasonings. It was like the decision has been made and it's in stone.

The 1/6 Saraha Jeep was there with the leading figures from the movie and while I liked the figures the Jeep was our same old WW2 Jeep. In the movie the Jeep was a completly different modern Jeep.

They did have a 1/6 Kubel with a new paint job and MG-34 mount. Can't tell the difference but it sure looks different from my 1S Kubel.

Speaking of Kubel, my new DAK Kubel with desert balloon tires just blows away the 21C Kubel. If 21C leaves the field, I feel DAK will slide right in. This idea is mine, not something I got from the Toy Fair.

With the DAK 1/6 2cm AA gun with a metal gun on a plastic mount and the DID Nebelwerfer being all metal, the field is wide open.

I spent my time in the 21C booth and the Dragon booth next door. While Dragon had plenty of handouts the reps were the same guys there from last year and just like last year, as soon as they see from your pass that you are not a buyer, you could drop dead in the middle of the booth and they would just walk over you to greet a buyer.

After a visit to Sideshow with some really cool 1/6 figures like three Colonial Marines with all these neat weapons and of course the Duke, my time was up and I had to get back to the business of freebees.

Your Tour of Duty !

Post by MG-42 » Wed Feb 15, 2006 8:33 pm

TTT,....I'm glad to hear you had a very interesting tour. .....and also glad to hear you are more than just satisfied with your New DAK Kübel,..balloon tires and all. I'm really glad to hear though,..that the New KT is "NO SMOKE" either. ......but maybe,....just maybe,..don't you think you just might be tempted to the bright-side of planes now ? .....not even just one ? ......You know what they say ? ....they're just like Lays,...You can't have just one ! :P

Hey TTT, when you say three Colonial Marines are they from a TV show? I don't mean to sound ignorant but are you talking about Colonial Marines from BattleStar Galactica.

The "bright side", that's cute. I do have one plane and one helo and of course, I've pre-ordered the Avenger for almost two years and holding.

I made up my mind, no matter how much I like a plane, no more planes until I get the Avenger in my hot widdle hands. :?

Doc Todd:

Weren't the Marines in the "Alien" movie series called the Colonian Marines?

The three 12" figures I saw today, were Apone, (the Sgt.), the tough chick machine gunner and Hicks.

They also had Terminator skelton figures, in 1/6 size, 1/4 size and 1/1 size with red lights in his joints and eyes. For $7500, you can't beat your own Terminator with a ray gun. Wow, as soon as I hit the lottery, I can see it now, a Terminator right next to my life size "leg" lamp from "Christmas Stiry".

Yeah SideShow is supposedly on 12" Aliens series figures, so those are the Colonial Marines from AlienS (Alien 2).

Cool stuff... I've heard 1:18 ones are on the way... Still waiting to see those.

Good news on that King Tiger. Hopeful for it in the (not TOO distant) future. With the other 3 model tanks up there, it'll look great... The US need something more than 2 Shermans though these days like a Stuart or something though. :) They were... important I guess?

Gents, for more extensive TF coverage go to Figures.com - they finally got some 21st pics up. Now to cruise them....

Oh, and the 10 additional bbi pics are off the "Goth" stuff if that interests anybody. On a side note - has anybody anywhere on the web commented on those new modern bbi guys??

I have a few pics from the fair on my Webshots site under my Toy Fair album, of course.

Sorry but my assistant photographer kept shooting me and my daughter in the pics so that limited the pics.

Nobody can see how good looking we are, our image will mess up your puter :P Something about privacy, the CIA and witness protection......something in there. 8)

I know this is a little "out of forum" but was there a 1/6th R/C Stuart on display at the 21st C booth or is the tank gone with the wind (or the Sam's Club $130 blowout)?

They were running the Stuart around as well as the 1/9 Abrams. They had the Humvee there but it was on a pedestal and not played with.

One odd thing was they were shooting the "rockets" at people. I thought that was kind of dangerous. Am I the only one who thinks "Law suit"??? My Stuart "rockets" go about 30 feet. Of course, I only shoot dogs in my yard and I don't think it hurts. :?

The two 1/18 RC items, the M-113 and the Panzer were on display in closed cases. Nobody played with them, but the RC controls were on display.

They also had the 1/6 Sahara Jeep (not RC) with the two figures from the movie. I like the figures, not the same old WW2 Jeep. For an outfit looking to dump 1/6, they did have a good selection of stuff on display.

Their catalog has the 1/4 "ride on" Jeep and Humvee, but they didn't have it on display,

All I want is for 21C to re-release the 1/6 stuff they already made (WSC etc.) and to up-scale the neat stuff in 21C has in 1/32 from 1/32 up to 1/18 8)

Did anybody say 1/18 M-7 Priest, M-18 Tank Destroyer, M-16 White Half-track with quad .50's??? Did I hear that??? Nah, only dreaming.

Gee Mike Cordero didnt say anything to me about 1/6th being dead. It was my understanding from talking with him was that there would be more 1/6th items on the way. A matter fact under ther 1/18th BOB figures there was somenew 1/6th weapons sets. Speaking of witch Aferg I think we need a 1/6th thread in here since that scale seems to be popping up more in here.

There are a ton of 1/6 boards.....this has always been a small scale board. When you say thread I hope you don't mean forum. :?
