It has come to pass that each day I have my routines. As I power up my laptop and another technical workstation in this glass ediface which is my home from the 9 to 5. I always find myself swigging a cup of tea (British after all) and then checking the Small Scale Index to determine the latest gossip, the pedantic nit pick, the conjecture, the analysis, of statements made by the doyens of the industry that so feed our habit.

What new plane? Oh it has this feature? Really broken propellors! Argggg! Retailers! It's all a good read. I enjoy every minute of it, and feel glad that there are others out there who share the community spirit of all that is 1/18th. Who'd have guessed that grown folk such as ourselves would have influenced toy manufacturers to the extent that they eventually churn out what we want. Amazing really, a textbook push marketing strategy.

I'm sure that tomorrow will be no different as I log onto the forum in the hopes of divining the next golden nugget which will further stress my credit card.

So I stand up to proclaim 'Hi I'm JoeS and I'm a 1/18tholic!'

And damn proud of it too!

I guess I have to say I enjoy reading what everyone has to say on our hobby. I don't know if I would admit I have a problem with it, just yet. But I would say it is more of a passion...

But what the the heck, I am Razor17019 and I am 1/18tholic!

Here is the 12 step program:
1. Buy more XD or BBI...

My name is STUKA (nods) I am new at this 1:18th love of military vehicles - I hear that one great way to rid oneself of a habit is to change habits - well I had a bad habit of wasting money on hasbro items - so I decided to kick that bad habit and make a better life for myself - here I am. Or maybe I will collect coins.

I minimize the habit by telling my wife I am buying the tanks for my son to appreciate when he gets old enough.
Which is true - from a certain point of view.

Suppose we`re all creatures of habit & when suffering from the Plasik crack as we all do,well we need to have a group like this

What does it say about a guy, in uniform, deployed to a combat zone, who still plays with army toys?
This forum isn't my first stop when I get to the office; email is always first and last since it's the best way to keep in touch with home. But I too look forward to reading the latest news and gossip here.

Tank Duel- Thanks for the compliment, but watch the caffeine intake! You might be seeing news that ain't there man!

It's close to the end of the day and my trembling hand couldn't but resist logging on to find out when Admiral was going to release the A-10! Or the F-4! Or a Baron Von Richtofen's Tri-plane! Or Maybe they'll beat 21st and provide us an Avenger!

By the way the latter comment was meant to be jocular and lighthearted. I for one am very happy that we have the likes of 21st, BBi and Admiral to feed us the Plastic Fantastic intravenously!

Luftpanzer, Stuka, Steel Bonnet I hear your pain from yonder hills! But rest assured the mighty JoeS is sending you 'positive waves baby'. If some of you have watched Kelly's Heroes then you know I'm referring to 'Oddball' the Sherman Tank Commander played by D Sutherland (Not Roy!).

Final note to Don, stay safe mate. Who said you were playing? You need to use the models for Strategic planning purposes.

KEEP ON LOOKING AT THE 1/32 LINE WITH ENVY. 1/18 TO ME IS A MAGIC NUMBER, AS SOON AS I FIND ANYTHING THAT IS IN THAT SCALE OR COULD FIT THAT SCALE I AM WILLING IT TO FIT IN WITH MY COLLECTION. TO ME THE SCALE IS JUST RIGHT, NOT TO BIG TO STORE OR LOSE PLAYABILITY, BUT NOT TOO SMALL TO BE TREATED AS A JUST A TOY. IT CAN EASILY PASSED OFF AS A HISTORY COLLECTABLE. Good to hear from all of you above. Quite an enjoyable thread. I must consider myself a 1/18aholic also. I must admit I have dipped into the 1/32 & 1/72 world a few times. You all have a great weekend!

My only problem and I do have one is, I can't find any good sh!*. Still finding FW-190's, some night fighter ME-109's but I'm looking for S1 Panzer IV's and the Battle of the Buldge figures. None of these ever hit my local wally worlds... so i had to go out of state

I think they call that "trafficing"

This collecting of XD is fun and I once again thank 21st but the hunt for the Stuff, well that $^(^$

but I'll keep doing it............................................

Mighty JoeS returns to sup on the nectar of the 1/18th forum. Just wanted to say thanks to everyone for their kind words. Hope everyone had a great weekend, I tried to go cold turkey, but couldn't get the thing out of the oven so hereth I return back for more. The shakes have subsided just a tad since logging on and now onto that English breakfast tea. Oh yeah there's that work thing as well. Mondays.....sheeesh!

Well, so what happened to the weekly meetings? Here I am, laughing my pants off as I read these posts. You guys are something else, let me tell you!

Anyway, a friend of mine introduced me to 1:18 about two years ago. At the time, John was the proud owner of the Kepford Corsair and the Lou-IV, P-51. Several month later, John visited my house. His jaw fell to the ground when he saw that by then, I already owned over ten XD models, as compared to his three or four. He couldn't believe it! He thought he was the 1/18tholic, but no sir, I was ahead by a long shot.

As of today, I have over 22 airplanes in my collection, with three more arriving within a week's time. One of my new green Zeros will be for John, who now has six airplanes, nearly a fourth of what I have (hahahahaha). Call it an act of charity!

But my addiction to collecting these babies has grown stronger as of late! I'm begining to feel frustrated when I can not find a particular model, and I can not even mention the Avenger without salibating and panting! is that addiction? Oh well, what the heck!

Enough ranting for the day. Enjoy the tea.

Joes has returned after a bout of the dreaded flu! Perhaps being an 1/18holic lowers the immune system? Anyhow the tea is being sipped as I look at the new photos of the upcoming F-86 from Admiral. What new photos? The collective cry from the assembled 'holics is resounding, drowning out the placating tiny voices of Jason, Mike, TKO and a thoroughly weary P51! (Sorry trying to list all the guys at the top...)
Soon banners will bobbing up an down the streets of the US, and maybe the odd one in the UK. 'WHAT NEW PHOTOS OF THE F-86?' The words almost scream off the placards by the incensed mob of 1/18ers. Girlfriends/wives wait patiently if not with a bit of embarrassment and the Dept of Homeland Security are taking pictures!

(I'd have a double sided board, the front saying the 'The world is nigh....' The back saying 'If the A-10, F-4 and Avenger isn't released!').

Okay it seems the addiction makes one prone to delusions, perhaps it's too much caffeine from the tea. But seeing the sexy F-86 sitting atop its tight little box in that Bad Cat photo...I just could not help myself! God I haven't even reached Step 2 yet! I'm a goner!
