Got the Desert Camo 109 from BADCAT.
21st Century Boxed.
Just breaking it open... but looking at it in the box... it looks GREAT!
My favorite camo scheme, for my favorite Jagdgeschwader !
S'cuse me while I go play with my toy ! (the 109 that is)

Got mine as well... Very nice indeed! This is one of the best paint schemes in my mind. The Galland is second. The entire plane is painted and looks excellent!, The interior gear wells are painted, the area behind the piolt / in canopy is painted different that the rest of the exterior of the plane and while a detail like this is really minor it adds to the plane's overall detail. This is a must have for collectors! a fitting swan song to an older mold.

The only drawback I see... it doesn't have the desert filtration system that they used on the air intake.
Also, the horizontal stabs look off......
My winter camo 109 is the same... if you hold the plane up and look from the nose towards the tail.... the horizontal stabs are slightly off... like twisted... they do not parallel the wings....
But it is slight...
Other than that I am digging on it!

Ditto here! Was a great past 10 days -- got my black night fighter from Toy Fed. and my Galland and Camo 109's from Bad Cat -- they all look awesome lined up in a row! I'll try to post pics later this week if I get the chance.
Somebody mentioned that to be historically accurate the Galland should not have the drop tank attached -- anyone have similar info. for the night fighters and/or the desert camo ME-109's?
Completely tangential question -- could it possibly be any HARDER to get the figures to fit inside the 109 cockpits?????

To address the drop tank question....
From my sources...
The 109E models 1, 2, and 3 used a thru the hub cannon but they had problems with it. So they took it out and went with wing mount 20mm cannons. That is what designated the E4 variant. As a field mod people hung a bomb/drop tank rack on it. (ETC250) So, it would be perfectly acceptable to have an E4 with no drop tank. (is Galland's an E4?)
The 109E7 variant was identical to the E4 except it came with a FACTORY installed ETC250 Rack instead the field mod done on the E4s.

Saw the Desert and Galland BF-109s today in my local Hobbytown USA store in Fresno, Ca. Both looked awesome, but I especially liked the Galland version. I must pass on this, however, as I am content with my first series BF-109!

How much are they asking for the Galland version?

Both versions are at the normal retail price of $49.95.
More than Wal Mart, but still not bad, considering that they could easily be sold for a much higher price...

Well I think you have a good deal there. Unfortunately I don't have access to anyone in my town selling them out of the store. (except Wally World)
So the postage eats me up.

Hey guys,
I added an original photo of "Yellow 4" in the Profile Album. I think it's original, but with technology these days, you never know. If anybody has a color profile of this specific aircraft, let me know! Thanks!

I have a color photograph of two other BF-109s from the same squadron as Yellow 4. They're Yellow 3 and 8. Save for the number, they look the same. I don't have a color profile, however. Let me know if you want the photo, however, I think I misplaced your e-mail address...

I am kind of doubting that the pictures is BF109F. I think I see wing cannon ... if so then it is an E model.

dessert 109E-7's often carried a bomb on the underfuselage rack. In fact even during the battle of britain this was done on 109's (which was a big mistake).
Anyway, drop tanks are also fine on the dessert 109. As far as finding a bomb goes...if anyone happens to have an old Airfix 1/24 FW-190 kit the 500kg bomb that came with that works well in 1/18 scale as a 250kg bomb that the 109 would carry.

As I mentioned earlier ....
The the difference between the E-4 and E-7 was the FACTORY installation of the ETC250 ventral rack... for bombs and drop tanks. So it would be VERY proper to see it on an E-7. Not unusual to see it on an E-4 as they were field modded to carry them. My Desert 109 is packaged as an E-4 FWIW.

what's the little bump under the fuselage of the black nightfighter 109 for? Looks like a mini H2S blister.

It is way too early a timeframe me thinks for anytype of airborned radar.
Do you have a picture of the bump? Is it different than the other repaints of the Emils?

there are pictures in Ski's photo album......that's where i noticed it. Yes i know it's too early to be airborne radar but it's something unique to the nightfighter version of the 109E.

Good one Ski....
It is very hard to even find reference concerning the 109 Night Fighters.
You manage to find one that mentions a DF setup used on only two aircraft.

Sometimes I get lucky! It sure solved my curiosity. I couldn't find a thing about it in the ton of books I have here at home

Glad you like it! If you like yours as much as I love my new BBI P-51, you must be one happy camper.
