Me too
Did you get the parts to make the launch tower as well, Normandy? I did.
Between the Natter, my TA-183 Huckebein and ME-163 Komet (that I still need to build) from Pizza Guy; my HO-229 fro Picklehaube; as well as my Pegasus V1 Buzz Bomb, I’ll have a sizable Luftwaffe 1946 type collection in 1/18

No I didn't order the launch tower Tman. Sounds like we have the
same Luft "46" collection, don't forget Grunts Henschel HS-293 Flying Bomb / Cruise Missile.

So, what's the status of the order, is the group order still open or is it finished already? Thanks!

Re: Bachem Natter in 1.18--who is interested
I ordered the Natter and launch tower kits from Crazy Kraut near the end of July and received it all last Friday
It’s a fantastic kit!
The kit will take a little work to get it put together with the trimming and sanding, but the use of the 3D printed materials really saves a lot of work over resin casting. Now to decide how to paint the model... I’ve got a couple schemes in mind:
Green streaks camouflage like on my Thomas Gunn Miniatures model:
This grey/black scheme looks neat as well:
Overall, the markings on the Natter are very simple - mostly the national insignias, maybe an ID number, and a minimum of stenciling. I read somewhere that swastikas were not normally included on the Natter as it was a disposable aircraft... The swastikas shown in historical photos of captured examples were often painted after the fact by the Allies.

Thanks for the pics, it looks awesome! I sadly have to pass for this batch out of financial reasons (real life is expensive), but it's a kit I'll always enjoy seeing.

Re: Bachem Natter in 1.18--who is interested
Thanks Normandy! That sloppy squiggling line type camouflage is something I’m strongly considering for my Natter when I eventually get to building it... I’d probably add crosses on the wings (as opposed to numbers) to make it look more like a production example though.

As far as someone getting into that thing to fly it: Like the famous quote from the Blue Max ....
"We must assume then he was either very brave or very foolish"
What makes the P-51 Mustang so special?
"It would do for 8 hours what a Spitfire would do for 45 minutes."

Re: Bachem Natter in 1.18--who is interested
Very true... And one of the only powered flights of the Natter killed the pilot, Lothar Sieber. However, it is believed to have been a mechanics error in not properly latching the canopy that led to that incident. In unpowered glide tests, pilots reported the Natter had excellent handling. Sieber holds the title of being one of the first humans to be launched vertically in a rocket-powered craft and to have possibly broken the sound barrierAxis Nightmare wrote:

Normandy, your Natter looks fantastic I like the way your paint job came out with the streaks and mottles. I need to get started on my Natter...

Re: Bachem Natter in 1.18--who is interested
Thanks guys, Tman I'm working with the paints I have on hand. The
compressor I'm using is one I can't regulate so I don't have the control
I'd like with the airbrush. I have another that I need to get working.
No new pics of the Natter today as I've been working on two Indy cargo truck customs...
