1/6 Dragon DAK Kübelwagen

Does anyone have any positive feedback/good things to say about the Dragon 1/6 DAK Kübelwagen? As a former "airplane-only" collector, I am very green, so to speak, regarding vehicles.

Hi,
IMHO, Dragon's 1:6 scale equipment is first-rate. We sold loads of the Dragon Expo exclusive Kubel with Rommel figure and the Kubel by itself and never heard one complaint. The same holds true for the Zundapp, which was a heavily modified Schuco bike that was re-engineered and reinforced with metal attributes. I was kicking myself after we sold off the last Zundapp.

Hi,
You'll soon find out that collecting 1:6 scale products, particulary Dragon's range, is equally addictive. I was miffed a couple of weeks ago when we sold out of the Marcus Holzhammer with Flak gun, thinking that we could get more from our supplier or sales might be sluggish due to the price point. Boy, was I wrong!

I only wish I could start displaying some figures in my house. Problem is the wife would hang me. She's accomodating, but not that accomodating!

You might also want to check out some 1:6 scale forums like the Sixth Division. Its all they talk about, sometimes rather vociferously!

I remember seeing one gentleman had created a 1:6 scale rail gun and other people sell custom made tanks and other vehicles. It really amazes me how talented some people are when the urge calls...

Hey Lightning, while this thread is going, let me take the opportunity to ask was the DID Zundapp a limited release? Its appears as though no one is carrying them.

The Dragon bike was limited production. Maybe L2000 can tell us if it will be made as a second ruin, I haven't heard.

I ordered a bunch of the Dragon 2cm Flak guns from different e-tailers and consider myself lucky to have gotten two. They are beautiful pieces. Glad I got the two.

I do hope Dragon would make another series of the Flak gun with a trailer. Who knows? The first series is sure gone to e-Bay now.

We dont stock DID products. Its not that we dont like them, its just that we presently have to limit what we stock until we get a larger warehouse. Right now, we're working on our new web site. Sorry, I couldnt be more helpful.

As for a new zundapp, I'd be willing to wager you'll see it turn up again as a regular item, much like the Kublwagen. I cant see them spending loads of money on a one off and demand still seems to be strong for this item. Whether or not it'll be painted in desert sand is a matter of conjecture. I'm more inclined to believe it'll look like one of the Schuco 1:10 scale bikes, so it might be feldgrau (field grey) or a tri-colored camo pattern. Anyway, I envy anyone that has the Dragon Expo version cause its bound to be a heavily sought after item.

Way to go nabbing the Flak Gun. That was an equally impressive item and we're hoping to see it in a new incarnation down the road...

The Dragon Kublwagen is great. There have been at least five versions, the last three with desert tan. The Zundapp was re-released through the Dragon online retailer as an exclusive in grey and sold out (preorder) in about a day. It has yet to be delivered. The flak gun is still available on line but you have to look under rocks and they seem to be going fast. Ebay seems to have a healthy supply for about the same price you pay at retail.
Given the history, there is a good chance all all of these items will be re-released in different versions.
My experience has been that Dragon is a marginal value if you are a collector looking for the upside. With a few exceptions, there seems to be a constant supply of items on Ebay that keeps the prices down (which is good for buyers!). Dragon turns out a first class product, just don't expect an increase in value.

The Hobbytown in Fresno had four of the Dragon 2cm Flak guns and two of the DAK Kubelwagons. I didn't see the exact price, however given the prices for other Dragon products they have in stock, it should cost about what it did at other small retailers. I don't collect Dragon 1:6 products, but thought I'd brag that I saw them after reading how they are aparently rare on this thread

The Dragon Kubelwagon runs about $105 in more than a few e-tailers. The 2cm Flak runs from about $90 to $150 with an average of about $115 on eBay.

I don't collect for future value, I enjoy the product, just like our 21C products. I'm also not a big figure guy, but I seem to have more Dragon figures than anything else, with some 21C and fewer still DID (only because of the cost of DID).
