New Millenium RC PzIV-H

Post by ltcbj » Thu Jan 12, 2006 4:08 pm

Is this the same company as 21st Century. The New Mill 1/18 RC tank has number 634, the pictures on the box have #122 and the picture I've seen on this forum have 122 as well. No where on the box is "Ultimate Soldier" or 21st Century Toys mentioned. The manufacturer is identified as New Millenium and it is called "Classic Armor", just like the little 144 scale tanks. The packaging is a dead ringer for 21st Century and it is advertised (at least on eBay) as 21st C- Ultimate Soldier.
So what is the relationship here? Where does 21st C fit in to New Mill., or visa versa? I have a need to know.

Thanks

"New Millenium Toys" = 21st Century. They are the same company with different names.

Not quite same company but does make sense. You'll notice you only see NMT in WM; but the products clearly derive from 21st. There is likely some licensing there of 21st molds, etc....but I doubt you will see NM anywhere but WM.

Think about other "generic" brands - or remember the motorworks boxes, which were just WM brand, 21st product. And just like other "generic" brands, you often lose packaging (remember when the plastic bases were replaced?) and occassionally quality (chipped paint on your diecast Winter Tiger?) suffers. In turn, good not to tarnish the 21st brand, and allows WM more control over their cost and inventory. You will notice this Xmas EVERYTHING was RC, next thing you know WM has RC tanks out the....

I agree with NMT being a company contracted by 21c for use through Wal Mart, however, my S1 Panzer IV, which I purchased at Hobbytown at the beginning of 2005 (when those tanks were first released to the small retailers) was made by NMT, per the company logo on the bottom. Its not entirely a Wal Mart exclusive company.
