Looks like the one we saw in some toy fair pics from a few years ago. Glad to see it being done. Cool paint scheme.

Looks like I have to buy another plane. Glad to see the proto-type paint job will appear on the Stuka after all. :D

I was happy to learn that this was the scheme that was chosen! The All tan one would have been cool too, but this was the one I was hoping for! It should be a nice addition.

check out that paint scheme!

since i only have one stuka, i'm one under my two planes per airframe limit! i can't wait to see this one up close. until then, here's a nice little quip:

A crooked wing, a square-cut tail,
Fat legs below and a bomb to trail,
Deep-Jowled before a glasshouse hump,
The Stuka's an unshampely lump.

Ju-87 S2

Post by eddie372 » Sun Jan 01, 2006 9:25 pm

Nice paint job on this one 21C.

For a long time I've been developing a liking for the Ju-87. The more I look at the one flying in my bedroom, the more I like it!

At this point I'm not really sure if I'll be getting one. The real estate is getting scarce and must make room for that gorgeous Avenger when it comes.

Sorry guys... I just realized I broke protocol and a new thread for this topic while an older one existed.

Didn't mean to clutter up the boards!

I have to say I'm a bit dissapointed. The paint scheme is fine but I would have hoped for a JU-87R-2 with drop tanks since the distances flown in North Africa so often required them.

Very good point Timbo. Do you think that we may be able to come up with substitute tanks for this model? Would they be very difficult to make?

I do have several WW-II aircrfat reference books, but have been unable to get a very good picture of the Stuka with drop tanks. Any suggestions? Or maybe you can post some pictures for us.

Many thanks.

i believe you can use the drop tanks from any of the Me 109E models. I believe the tanks were the same as those used on the Stuka R.

I'd pick up either Osprey Combat Aircraft #6: Stukageschwader of North Africa and the Mediterranean or Squadron's Stuka book, my copy is AWOL at the moment but I believe the front cover is a drawing of 2 JU-87R-2s. The tank is the same style that is found on the 109 and simply goes on the wing in place of the bombs.

Here are some pages with some pictures:

Drop Tanks

Post by eddie372 » Mon Jan 02, 2006 1:59 pm

Thank you guys. from the pictures it appears that the drop tanks are interchangable with the 109s, as mentioned.

BADAZZ!!!

I've been going back and forth trying to decide if I want to shell out the $$$ for the Snake Stuka (not sure why it shop up to around $75 on eBay recently - guess they're just getting harder to find?) and was kind of kicking myself for not picking up one earlier - but I like this new paint job better anyway so I'm stoked! THANK YOU 21C - KEEP THOSE SWEET PLANES/PAINT JOBS COMING!

Thats an awesome paintjob for the XD Stuka! One of the best, IMHO. Kind of makes me want to get a repaint of that aircraft. Hopefully we will see the Avenger before this shows, however.

Thanks 21c! :D

Solid camo scheme, this is one of the re-paints I have been waiting for!
