I opened up one of the R/C M113s (desert camo) tonight (an early Christmas present....
). Everything worked just fine and I had hours of fun running it around the house. My son and I built obstacle courses out of his blocks and it climbed and went over each obstacle with ease. If these ever go on clearance I'll have to get another one in the NATO colors.

I also finally broke down and purchased the NATO cammo M113 I had found a few days earlier. (Luckily it was still there, being the only one at the store.) The origional RC M113 had caught my eye, but I really didn't want to get the desert version since it was the same paint scheme as my non-RC M113. The NATO M113 fits perfectly with the Woodland-cammo Bradley and Hummer. Mine does indeed run very well - actually better than my Panzer IV - and the machine gun sound is cool.
I also performed a little customization on the RC M113 by opening it up, removing the covers from the turret & upper hatch and fitting in a piece of cardboard to protect the circuts. This left a space for a commander and a couple passengers (consisting of BBI figures) to ride in the vehicle.

I am having trouble twith my tank. The left track will look and make a clicking sound then I can reverse the right tread which will unlock the left tread. I am not sure if it is a tread problem or a gearbox problem. I have not opend it up yet to look at the internals. Does anyone know what type of grease would help the gear boxes
I think is something with the track. The one I was just given (see my rant post) was doing the same thing after I ran it for a while. The drive sprocket turned but thee track seemed jammed. I pulled at it and it sounded like it "clicked" into place and it has not done it since. I guess it would be a good idea to inspect the track for deformities and trim as needed.
By the way, there is plenty of silicone grease in the gear box. When you open the tank up (three screws on the bottom, fender stay rest of top lifts off) you will noticegrease on the turret ring and on all the exposed gears.

All the same frequency for the M113s, as you observed. The Panzer IVs are at 27 MHZ. It would be cool if all variants were at different schemes, so that you could run two Panzers or M113s together, but I think 21c/NMT was thinking about potenital buyers running one of each type, instead of multiples of the same. If one is very good with electronics and RC maintenence, it could be feasable to move the engine from the Panzer IV to an M113...
