1/9 Scale R/C Abrams at Wal-Mart - $165

Post by Mr. Football » Tue Dec 20, 2005 11:37 pm

Finally spotted the 1/9 scale Abrams at Wal-Mart. WOW!!!! Very impressive piece of hardware. Anyone see these things? Are they any good as far as the R/C goes? They look impressive.

They also had some other interesting items, like the 1:144 scale 21st armor, new Corgi Nose Art, Corgi Wheelz (Corgi Showcase), Corgi History Channel, Forces of Valor metal soldiers with dio, XD armored cars, Walker M-48's, and more.

Great new stuff!

Is the Xd tank you saw a Walker Bulldog, or an M-48 Patton? If you saw the Patton, I think quite a few members here would be excited....as for the Walker Bulldog, not so much.

The 1/9 Abrams does indeed look very impressive, however, many board members who purchased one have voiced some complaints about it - mostly concerning Q/C issues with the wheels and the sound. Here's some links to a couple past threads concerning it:

Yes, beware of the Abrams. Some work great but there have been MANY complaints about almost instant breakage. People have been really stubborn with this one and have refused to accept its shortcomings and they keep buying it and then complaining about it. IMO it is what it is - like the 1:18 M113 - so close but so far, steer clear or lower your expectations.

As Googly said, you could get people hyped up if that was an M48, but I have a feeling it was a 41 as you did say Bulldog. That and I still don't believe the M48 is out - we have not had concrete recon from an armor fan on that. But what's this "armored car" you speak of? The halftrack or Command Car? :)

What stae are you in where they are $165?
In Tennessee they are still $200.
I was hoping to find one heavily discounted around the first of the year

My Super Walmart in Boynton Beach had a $150.00 Abrams mixed in with a bunch of $150 Humvees. The Abrams is now gone.

The best deal I ever saw there was six Stuart tanks all marked down to $50 each.
One hundred and fifty three - 1:18 scale aircraft on the ceiling looks  damn good!

Just saw the Abrams in another local Walmart for $110 last night. The 1/6 Hummer was $110 too.

Now there is the deal I would like, Humvee's and Abrams for $110. You guys in Florida are lucky. :)

If it wasn't for the huricanes, the driving q-tips, the humidity, summer heat and all my relatives I'd move there. :?

I just saw 5 hummers and one misplaced M1A1 with tags on all for $99! Guess the after-Christmas sales are starting early. Too bad problems have been reported in alot of M1s, as I just might have gotten it for that price.

I haven't seen any of those 1/6 Humvees, are they any good? Can you put 1/6 figures inside?

The new Humvee has no access to the inside. Windows are all black. That was the first drawback to this Humvee, the second drawback is that it is "too fast". Zips around like crazy. Scaled up to 1/1, the Humvee would be tearing around at speeds over 100mph. They go for around $125-150 including shipping on eBay.
