Black Hawk DAP Project

Post by pickelhaube » Fri Aug 08, 2014 5:55 am

Hey Guys,

This project is about the 4th one back from starting.

But there is nothing wrong with getting all of my ducks in a row.

DAP---Direct Action Penetrator

Essentially it is a Blackhawk ladened with additional weaponry used as an attack helo that carries no attack troopers

To my untrained eye this is what is needed to change a standard Blackhawk into the DAP

FLIR/ Snoopy nose radome ( done )
Mini m-134 mounted in the windows. ( done )
M-60 mounted on a pintel on the floor in the middle of the sliding door. Mini-134 mounted on the other.
Misc munition packages on the extended wing stubs ( rockets )... (correct modified stubs are done but need to be altered to accept winglet extension )
Chain gun and or mini-134s mounted on winglets.

Does that about wrap it up ?

On the external stores wings there are a number of options:

Folding Fin Aerial Rocket Tube

GAU 19 Chain Gun

M-230 Chain Gun

HellFire Missile

Stinger Missile

Smoke Dispensers

Other characteristics of the DAP include:

Many DAP's have a Fuel Cell that is mounted at the rear of the cabin.

Many DAPS use the fuel boom as well for extended time in the air.

Crab Eye Nose Sensors/Tail Sensors

As you noted there is usually a 50 cal machine gun or mini-gun mounted in the crew cabin doorways.

I've been collecting photo's for a while on the DAP and have many megabytes of them. I would be happy to share them with you by e-mail.

I've been hoping you would tackle this project for a while.

I posted this about a year ago and only one guy posted.

Is there still interest ?

The major issue are with the stock winglets . They are mounted in the wrong position.

Should I modify the arm to fit in the correct position or just leave it as is and work with what I got ?

I'd suggest you work with what you got. Moving the winglets would be a major modification.
