No Problem
Take a few days (going out of town)...but I have three of the FW-190D's. One is disassembled for a gear workover. I can get all the pics you want.

Thanks folkewulfe, this is what i`m looking for....the gear looks fragile-
why the workover? Is it like the mlg`s of the p47,that keeps bending forward(due to weight or weak ldg constuction)until the centerline tank touches the gnd?
Tanks for pics, it looks really nice,Must have.

The S-1 FW-190 when it initially game out had really, really weak hinge pins on the gear. 21st fixed this problem on later paint schemes and later S-1 models by beefing up the hinge. When I got my S-1, I broke the gear on the very first extension! I had to take the wing apart, melt in new "pins" made from nails and re-assemble everything. That was my first XD surgery!

FW 190D9 Pics
Wish I could take credit for the previous pics, but those are P-51's....nice pics too! These are pics of "Red 3" that I did a little detailing to. Besides weathering heavily, the flaps were altered so that they could be lowered and the radio antenna was added. The antenna wire runs through the canopy and into a recess under the pilot's seat. An inkpen spring is attached to the hidden end to keep the wire tight even when the canopy is opened (as in these views).

As you can see, the cockpit detail is pretty sparce. With the pilot inside, there's not alot of room to view any detail.

The gear is somewhat fragile and it certainly does not sit right. All FW 190s had a pronounced "toe-in" appearance to the oleo struts and the axle attachment. 21C choose to make the gear straight both at the wing connection and the axle connection. I've taken another 190 apart and trying to fix that. I'll post pics when I can finish it.

As you can see, a little work and your FW will be much better than "from the box". Hope that helps some.

You can easily get the "toe in" effect by simply resting the spring loaded lever against the strut, just below the notch. This is also another one of those situations that like the 109, you can file off a bit of the lever and have the gear sit at the perfect angle.....

Sorry
Sorry guys, and I hate to be picky, but simply resting the gear latch farther down on the strut doesn't do it. All 190's had a very pronounced inward cant to the main struts and and outward cant to the axle/oleo connection so that the wheel was near vertical even though the oleo was canted inward. Go here http://www.ipmsstockholm.org/magazine/2 ... 0a8_47.jpg and you'll see what I mean. If you just rest the lock lower on the oleo of the 21C bird, the axle is way off. Call me picky, but I think I can do better. I've grounded off the oleo from both gear doors from the top of the oleo sleeve down. I've been trying to get the oleo/axle angle just right (from brass rod). A little detailing added and you'll never know it wasn't made that way. Then shave the lock at the top of the strut so it's shorter and install a rotator spring to keep the gear from over extending...VIOLA!
