Man, just saw what 21C is doing with the BOB figures in AREA-21. SWEET!!! If there is anything I am short on in customizing figures is heads. The more the merrier!

Yeah, 2 heads are better than one!

I finally came across three of the Sahara figures today while on a "long range mission" to the largest Wal Mart in California, about an hours drive south and east from where I live. There were two of the Dirk Pitt figures and one of the Al Giordino. These were on the peg with a bunch of S1 and S2 Marines.

I found 3 figures, 2 Dirk Pitt and 1 Al Giordino... got one of each.
Hmmmm I just saw Tmans post, the 3 Sahara figs were also with the S1 and S2 USMC figures. I wonder if this is some kind sales test?
Oh, I found them at the Walmart in Garden city L.I., N.Y.

When I found the Sahara figs a while back they were with S1 and S2 marines at both of the stores I went to. It looked like one set of Sahara figs per one set of Marines.

That's a good point. I couldn't understand why there was only one set myself. I bet you are right on the sales test........

I thought someone had already posted that they came one or two sets of Saraha figures per case of S3 Marines...
(which would make sense, IMHO, but maybe I'm mis-remembering...)

I noticed in one of the Walmarts here that there were at least 2 sets (perhaps more) of Sahara figures in one of the XD cardboard displays of Marines. My last trip out (about 3 days ago) there was one each of Dirk Pitt and Al Giordino on the regular aisle display and the cardboard display box was gone. As were about 75-80% of the Marines.
If at first you don't succeed, try, try again. Then quit. No use being a damn fool about it.

tman - so simple, yet great ideas (immediate reaction was, why the heck didn't I think of that!?). Thanks for sharing!
Looking forward to the new BOB assortment to add to the possibilities.

Not exactly figures, but oh well. I went to NY yesterday and found 2x Putt Putt Marus at FAO Schwartz for $75+tx. They looked awesome in the new boxes and the paint scheme is beautiful, but I passed on them as I didn't feel like toting around a box like that. I already returned from the Times Square TRU with the British Corsair a couple years ago, and that was tough enough!!
As a side note, I was shocked to find squat at the TS TRU this time around. No bbi, no nuthin. They had a huge display of GI Joe stuff, but that was about it. Pretty disappointing..........

Thanks for your comments!
To answer a few questions, here's how I made them. The Panzer grenadier uses the origional S1 head on the body of a BoB Ardenns Infantry figure. The officer is the S1 figure with a spare coat and arms added from a BoB infantry figure. The Tankers resulted from a head switch between the origional XD Tiger tank commander and one of the new green BoB tanker figures; the shell is from Build-a-Rama. The winter soldier is made from the body of a BoB German tanker with the head and rucksack of an origional BoB Ardennes Infantry figure (the ones with the white helmets). The MP-44 and ammo pouch were some spares I had lying around. The soldier and machine gunner in the back row are simply some of the new BoB Ardennes infantry figures with the coats removed and spare accessories added.
These new BoB figures work great for customization projects

Picked up the remaining S3 marines I needed at a local Walmart and the wierd thing was that three of them rang up at 2.50 each and two others rang up at 4.79.
I'll take the discount but dont understand Walmart's pricing

SCORE! you gotta love the crazy discounts sometimes.
I remember the first day the 1:18 Spitfires hit the shelves. They rang up a 19.00 each! I think I bought 4 NKK's at that price. They made nice gifts to friends and nephews! minus the one I kept in the old collection.

I'm actually pretty psyched for these guys. I've had my own OMG guys I made out of 10 Davis but these guys can just fall in behind them.
Which Headsculpt is Battershell? Krieger? I couldn't tell.
