A Couple Of New "Unusual Subjects"

Two recent arrivals joining my diecast warbird collection certainly fall into the "unusual subject" category. The first one is a 1:120th scale rendition of a Surrender Betty bomber----one of the Japanese planes required to wear an all white with green crosses "scheme" just after V-J Day. Here' it is, with a bit of staining on my part to bring out the panel lines, plus a few other mods:

Even more interesting, in my opinion, is a 1:144th scale Chinese H-6K bomber----a deritive of the Soviet TU-16 "Badger", which the Chinese began to produce in the late-1950s. This particular version has all defensive armament deleted and the bombardier's position is fared over. It does carry six menacing cruise missiles, however.

The model is quite well detailed and very heavy---though I wasn't impressed with the all-white missiles and pylons which I had to modify so they resembled the real thing. Here, with some staining, is the model after I stopped fussing with it:

i recently spotted one of those Chinese H-6K bombers on ebay, though i didn't buy it. A very interesting subject indeed and unexpected too. I think they're made by Gaincorp.
