I like it. Already pre-ordered it and can't wait to make a little display of the craft in landing mode with some of the FOV 1:72 modern soldiers running down the back ramp

Hope it's as good as the pics. Having the tilt rotors and ramp is a plus.
Doesn't look like the upper fuselage holding the rotors pivots for aircraft carrier stowage, but many people I suspect don't even know it does that. Though that could be only the Navy version, not sure.

I don't buy much modern aircraft, but have a soft spot for helicopters and such if you can even call it that.

the Osprey is a neat aircraft for sure. FOV can be very hit and miss with their aircraft with some being downright bad. It looks like they've done a good job on the Osprey. Fingers crossed.

all those operating features makes me nervous though.....may be lots of gaps and loose parts.

Yeah looks like it has more features than the FOV. It's a brand new company so we'll see what they come up with.

What interests me more though is mention of a B-17 in the upcoming lineup. Doesn't say what scale though but I assume 1:72.
Someone needs to end Corgi's dominance in this area. They continue to produce old worn out versions of the flying fortress and ask too much money for them. Which I would pay if I got an up to date version, but after one B-17 purchase, never again.

I got it from the Flying Mule newsletter. You have to subscribe to get these announcements and codes for discounts. Only info I've seen on it with the Osprey news.

This is what it said:

"Yes, it's true. Hot on the heels of our exciting announcement of Forces of Valor's 1:72 MV-22 Osprey, we've added another 1:72 MV-22 Osprey to our line-up, this time from a new manufacturer called simply Air Force 1. Although we've yet to see this item "in the metal", we do know that it will have some unique features to set it apart from the competition. Most notably, foldable rotors and a pivoting wing for deck stowage. Also, along with these features, there's a price difference. $99.99 for the Air Force 1 example vs $71.99 for the Forces of Valor release. We don't know a whole lot about Air Force 1 at this time but we expect to follow-up with announcements of an upcoming F-35A/B/C, an XB-47 and even a B-17!

I"ve heard of Air Force 1 before, a few weeks ago but can't remember why. Here's hoping they'll bring us some excitement.

cnq: the Corgi B-17 is one of their oldest molds. Accuracy is so-so as it tends to combine parts of the B-17e,f and g. Also some bits around the nose are plastic inserts and the color match of these with the painted metal of the rest of the plane is poor. Also, for me this is a biggy, the waist gun windows have clear plastic over them on the E/F models when they should be totally open. The clear plastic was added to ease the mounting of the waist machine guns but looks totally dumb and flys in the face of later B-17 models that actually did have waist gun windows. For the money that is being asked for these there are just way too many problems.

What Aferg said on the B-17 cnq. The only one I have is the recent two pack. Like the Bf-109 a lot though.

Turns out some of these Airforce 1 models could be the old Franklin Mint molds except for the new aircraft.

Why they would re-release a dated B-17 mold that is huge at 1:48 at the same time a highly detailed 1:72 Osprey is beyond me and highly unrealistic.

I think someone posted a thread on this new company a little while back re-releasing Franklin Mint models.

The Osprey is looking nice though.

I have to agree and yet disagree. Certainly there are dated features. Some features were simply painted on in the early releases (like MG mounts on the cheek gun windows) and with some of the most recent releases, Corgi has completely given up on accuracy like giving a B-17E a B-17G's Cheyenne tail turret.

Still, I've been a fan of the Corgi B-17s for years, and its almost of an emotional attachment. I recall first spotting them when I was in England 11 years ago and just being elated. I purchased one at the RAF museum, and hauled it back across the Atlantic with me, where it sits on display in my house today. They were much cheaper back then, even in Pound Sterling. I've enjoyed the functionality of the Corgi model with the working control surfaces and flaps and felt Corgi got the general look of the plane right - the larger Franklin Mint 1:48 models always looked a little off to me...

But with the prices today, unless they made a decent silver B-17G again that was accurate, I wouldn't bother.
