That's kinda cool.
Looks like it's a solid sand color so we don't have to worry about mottling.

Have a couple of desert 109's it can go with.

I had read the HM 110 had a few things not quite right with it, though one problem was the overly thick radar arrays we don't have to worry about on this one.

I see Jabara's Sabre finally. 8) down for that one too.

yeah i noticed that too, i'll probably pick it up if there are no issues. The problems come when the do G variants. They don't change the canopy and the shape of the rear is incorrect...it's not a huge difference but annoying if you are very familiar with the 110. The radar aerials are the other common complaint but they really don't bother me.

What is HA1811? HA1810 is another 110 they have coming out soon and HA1812 is this new desert one.

A gap in the numbers?

I assume the canopy is correct on the HM 110E then?

I don't have a 110E and would like to get one, though would've liked a Battle of Britain vesion. There's not a lot of Corgi's out there to have now and they're high priced.

I did manage to score the Ghost of Trond Corgi Bf-110G for my first one at Aikens who had them. It really is nice and the paint is done very well. I think it's the best of the radar equipped 110's from Corgi or HM, and an ace pilot.

in honesty, it's probably better to have a desert 110e than a battle of britain 110e. During the BoB the 110's performed very poorly and were fodder for the British fighters. However, in the desert war, the 110 performed much better....it's greater range being a big asset, plus the general quality of fighter opposition was lower, so it really shone.

It took me a while to figure out which 110 nightfighter to get. I wasn't thrilled with any of the choices, either Corgi or HM. They were certainly all decent but none were 'awesome' which is what i was looking for as i love the 110 nightfighters. I finally settled on a HM Drewes that i found at a little online etailer for a bargain price. It's nice but the colours are too dark and the mottling to heavy handed. The Corgi one you got is also pretty nice but i didn't like the black spinners.....lol. I like the overall light grey finishes. The corgi is interesting in having the early war radar aerial array (pre 'window')....the radar with the larger radar aerials came out in response to window. One thing i really dig about the Drewes 110 i got is that it has (correctly) both types of aerials. The bigger ones were not jamable with window but didn't have as good a close in range as the earlier radar, so many fighters also kept the earlier radars, which had the smaller aerials.

You're probably right about the BoB 110's but if I see one for a good deal I'll get it.

That explains the heavy looking antennas then.

I was initially turned off by HM's heavy handed mottling is why I didn't buy one, and when I saw the Corgi Night Ghost of Trond in detailed pics had to have it as the camo is done so well.

I want to see the finished product on these HM Bf-109E's before I buy one. Sometimes the shade of tan can be off on desert models like the desert Corgi He-111 I bought when I got it, it was some kind of puky yellow mustard tan.

HM Collector has a better pic up.

well the nice thing about desert schemes is you can get away with a lot of variation in colour....so don't let the colour of your heinkel bother you. Weathering plus different types of application of the paint, often in haste caused a wide variety of shade variations in every theatre but nowhere more pronounced than in North Africa. They often even used Italian paint or captured british stockpiles. Plus the sun will act differently on different types of paint depending on how they were applied, thinned etc. And then there is the normal variations between different manufacturers of the paint.

For example US Olive drab on planes weathred to a light green or a tan colour and even a grey colour.

and speaking of Corgi and desert schemes: was a time i was thinking of getting the Corgi Do-17 in the desert scheme but i couldn't remember ever seeing a do-17 in desert colours. I did a quick search online and still couldn't find any evidence of do-17's in desert camo.

You would think there would have been but i couldn't verify the Corgi scheme so i passed on it.

Yeah variations of paint occurred all over due to supply and conditions, including the PTO, where colors of some of the IJN aircraft is still debatable.
It makes it interesting especially for me when there are so many shades of OD on WWII U.S. aircraft for the same reasons.
I suppose my Corgi He-111 I can live with, but it's far from what I expected looking at the box art and pics.

That scheme on the Dornier has been discussed on another forum in detail and found to be inaccurate I think. Would like another Do-17, but passed on it.
The only one I have so far is the BoB version which is nice. Had a hard time finding one for a while, and at a decent price. Ended up paying the $99 plus shipping on it anyways, but it's worth it. I think they're more now.
The only other one I like is the winter version, which not quite as good as the Corgi Hartmann Bf-109G winter paint with multiple layers of subtle different whites, but it is quite well done as Russian front Corgi's go though.
