Re: 1/18 scale 100mm Anti-aircraft Gun Type 59 Metal Model E
Nice, if you like late 40's/early 50's Chinese artillery.
The gun is a Chinese copy of a Russian AAA gun. To me, the barrel of the Type 59 is a little short to be AAA, but I checked and the 1/1 gun was AAA and had a short barrel.
My complaint is on the huge (to scale) screws all over the gun and is the model supposed to be a lighter?
If you want to collect Korean War era Chinese stuff, this metal gun is great. Don't know about the actual scale but it is nice.

TTT,
Yes, it's a lighter. If you want an idea about the scale (front plate removed):

Granch:
Now that is a very nice setup. In my closet of old forgotten stuff, buried in boxes of slides and B&W pics, of VN are more than a few pics of Chinooks (spelling?) carrying artillery, Jeeps and downed Hueys. I even have at least a few pics of some monster helo with tall legs carrying shipping containers or a downed Chinook.
Always fascinated by stuff carrying stuff.

Hi Charlie; I think the monster helo with the tall legs is called a " Sky Crane ".

Yep, Sky Crane. I had a brain fart before and could not remember. I was in a Signal Bn and part of our mission was to have equipment on hill top fire bases and the repeater equipment was installed in boxes like shipping containers that fit in the back of deuce & a half's and these Sky Cranes would come in and pick up these containers and fly them to the fire base (no roads, everything in/out by chopper) and my guys would live there for weeks at a time, then replaced. BTW - The only WIA's we had were in these fire bases. The fire bases also had 105's, which were brought in my Chinock's In my time in VN, the only deaths we had were in traffic accidents. Six or eight if I remember. We had a job and did it, other units provided security and artillery units.

Nice to wake up memories like you guys have with only a bad pic. I've never seen the Sikorsky Skycrane (CH-54).
By the way, I bought the chinese lighter canon to be carried from my modified UH-60, but the general shape of this artillery can not be taken for a M-119 howitzer. I'm sorry that I choosed this die-cast instead of the 1/18th wooden model of Military Mahogany...
