Oh forgot to add, BBi may also be considering a Russian Jet release. But no info on what again Wait And See....

I'm not giving up the Hunger Strike for an A-10. I think it's funny though how BBI chose to put the A-10 up for display at Fall Toy Fair instead of choosing something that the "tooling" costs aren't as high on. Why not chose something to show your customers that is more likely to be done to drum up orders? Did your friend get any further into why the tooling costs are so high? I would think that the A-10 would be simple since the aircraft design is simple. Simple gear, simple non-swinging or folding wings, etc. Think it would be a shame that BBI would falter like 21st did on making this amazing bird. Hope that one of them will finally finish what they start. Guess we'll have to "Wait and See"

Wow Joe, thanks for the update. I think you are right that in time there will be a lot less to want for.

21st hasn't done modern Jets and there is no reason to believe they will, so I think for an A-10 & F-14 or Mig 29 you need to wait for bbi (Admiral is just getting off their feet). All the smaller stuff is up for grabs, although I'd venture to say some of the things you mentioned will never come to be.

As for the Zero, it may still turn out to be a mistake. What I find odd is that people wanted for one SO bad, but then rolled their eyes at the announcement of a second one by Admiral. Well, if you wanted one SO bad, how could you not be happy there are two to choose from? If there was a piece of armor that I cried for every day I wouldn't be upset if two companies decided to make it.

i remember in sixtys/seventys Revell would annouce a new kit to see reaction before they ever did any tooling

Just have to remember that this is not "official" word from BBI too. Mike made a statement that retaliers don't "always" know what they are going to produce too. Could be the case here. I do take it positive though that BBI chose to show a mock up of the A-10 out of all the other possibilities they have. Could have been they made a different decision after his visit.

i wish you luck, but i have a gut feeling an F-14 would be way down the manufactors list.complicated to produce,first teen fighter to be retired,
not many paint schemes

Gentleman, I don't mean to ruffle feathers on the subject of the A-10, I'd love to see one made, it'd be great. The online retailer in question I think is only given what the manufacturer decides to tell him, I totally forgot about the mockup on show, that lends me to think that it isn't trashed. So guys rest easy for now, continue your denial of sustenance in favour of the Hog Roast! One day thy shall be rewarded.

A 1:18 F-14, though giant, costly and complicated to produce would be awesome. As this is one of my favorite modern fighters, I'd get one!

There are a number of repaint possibilities and the plane has that whole "Top Gun" romantic aurora about it. It would probably possess a certain appeal to the general public that the F-4 and A-10 do not quite have.

2006-7 would be A GREAT time to make a tomcat....since it would be fresh off retirement and people would want to buy one for nostalgia's sake and the price for such a huge thing would probably be understandable.

KAGNEW there is a TON of paint schemes man! There is a lot of popular recognizable squadrons. Sure it was the first teen fighter but the F-4 is tons older and yet we know even then the phantom would still be very successful. And the F-4's got complexities as well, the seperate 2 person cockpit areas is more complex than the Tomcat's, as the tomcat canopy is single and not split.

Nonetheless I would like to see BOTH regardless of price and difficulty to manufacture.

i have to say the F-14 has alot more power being the commercialism that it got from top gun... alot of old fans will come out to buy one, especially if there was a "maverick" paint sceme!

IF the A-10 on't be made due to tooling costs than we can assume what would be made next could potentially be smaller and cheaper to produce, with the big boys(hog and cat) being produced later.

A-4? MIG-29? F-5? L-39? It also just crossed my mind that if BBI were to do a black tomcat, they have 2 liveries to choose from!(VX-4 and VX-9, 4 had the playboy bunny on their F-14A, and VX-9's F-14D had the XF and missle test logo).

I am also wondering if paramount would license the BBI tomcat if it were to come out and sell it in topgun liveries....they could see this at various Kings Dominions, the studio stores, the internet, and Great America in cali. Heck a special DVD set WITH the tomcat and perhaps a book on the real topgun would be AWESOME! Maybe for that pack in it could come with Merlin instead of Goose.
