Question for ship builders?

Post by momaw nadon » Mon Dec 05, 2005 10:51 pm

I'm new to this side of the forum. I normally only collect 1/18th scale stuff, but I'm needing some help in the smaller scale line.

My question is about Schnellboots? Is there any other model kits other than the Revell 1/72nd S-100 version? I'm wanting a boat around 1939/40 without the armor of the late war versions. Can be any scale and any info about the kit as for reviews etc would be great. Thanks for the help.

I think that AirFix used to make one. It's like an E-boat, right?

Airfix makes a 1/72 scale E-boat, but the kit is the WWII version.. You might have to buy the current Revell kit and scratchbuild to backdate it.. :?

The Airfix 1/72 kit is exactly what you want. It represents S10, which was an early war boat (boats of this series were actually built in the mid 30's but used in WW2. It was experience with these boats and their short comings that lead to the production of the S100 type boats). Only a few of this type were made, most were the S100 type that the Revell kit represents.

From what i understand the Airfix kit is a pretty good kit and easily found on Ebay for cheap.

Here's a site with technical data on all Schnellboot types:

Thanks for the help, but I was hoping for a new version than that Airfix Schnellboot. The version I was looking for would be between S-26 and S-37. Maybe I could combined the two kits, but I don't know how accurate that would be. The information on these boats are kind of vague and I haven't found any good reference pictures or blueprint type drawings. Would anyone know where I might be able to find that? Thanks again for the help.
