To steal a line from a distinguished colleague, “you will have to wait and see.” "
At least we have another company in the mix that is taking our request for a 1/18 scale A-10 into consideration...........
Now if one of them will come through and produce one..........who will it be?

Hog Fact:
The external fuel tanks used by the A-10 are the same external fuel tanks used by the FB-111A.

Still hoding strong......
We should see an A-10 for the 1/18 modern line before anything else.
After all, as of now it will still be flying until 2028.......
Although there is more room in my line up for other aircraft, the A-10 will be filling it the most. Hope we see the A-10 first. I think it will open the door for alot more....

an A-10 would really rock if a F-4 did a speed run on it like the Zero/F-14 seen in Final Countdown
he! he!

We don't need to start an argument or trash talk, but let's just remember why the A-10 was created....for close air support.....something no other modern jet aircraft has done as effectively.
And last time I checked the A-10 is still in service doing it's job.
It's time we get the A-10 in 1/18 scale to cover our modern troops from the air.
There's room for both aircraft, but now I feel it should be the A-10's time.

Not a problem...

Sorry I took it wrong buddy....
Just taking up for our "Ugly" bird. Just adding to the banter.
I did get a laugh at the thought though.....
I hope we get both the A-10 and the F-4 someday.

I agree, we need the A-10 to support our modern ground forces in 1/18 scale. We have an M1, LAV, M2, Humvees, Apache, Kiowa, Little Bird, and Blackhawk, we need an A-10 to complete a modern diorama providing close air support.
My 2 cents.

Awesome sounding stuff Kagnew. The "Smoke'em If You Got'em" shirt sounds cool. I was at Maxwell Air Force Base today and they have an F-4 on display. When I go back in a few weeks I'm going to take some pictures and I'll post them on the F-4 thread. They also had another part of the A-10's family tree there, the F-105 Thunderchief, along with an F-100 Super Sabre, and an F-101 Voodo. After seeing the F-105 in person, aside from the models of them I've built in the past, I'd love to see one of them done in 1/18 scale as well. I know it's probably a far shot, but maybe one day. Want to see the A-10 above anything else but a display with an A-10, F-4, and F-105 in the middle would be kick butt. You'd have two members of the Fairchild family and two workhorses of the Vietnam War. Definitely couldn't go wrong there in my book....

the Va ANG used to fly the Thud
it was really an impressive aircraft.
maybe after the A-10 & F-4 are done in 1/18
we can join forces and do a strike for the Thud

If and when an A-10 is produced in 1/18 scale, I hope the pilot is equipped with ANVIS-9 night vision goggles for night operations..........

we could add all that ourselves, if someone would just please make the major A-10 airframe.
the cobra, apache or blackhawk, one came with nite vison pilot.the outside sensor would be easy to make.
we need A-10 air support (with a lot of missiles & bombs)

the enemy is after my 1/18 girls

Come on and give us a 1/18 scale A-10.

MightyMustang:
Nice lookin Zero so far but it makes me mad really and heres why. BBI has come out with a Zero and 21st might come out with a Zero and now this company is coming out with a Zero, where oh where is the 1/18th F6F Hellcat? Sorry guys its just frusterating not to have a 1/18th F6F a plane that I want so badly but no company seems very interested in doing one. And thats a shame really because it was the top Fighter in the pacific producing the most aces and had a kill/loss ratio of 19-1 a record STILL unsurpassed today. Wheres the love?
I now feel the same frusteration the guys who want an A-10 feel.
We know how you feel for sure MightyMustang.........
But hopefully someday we'll see an F6f and an A-10 in 1/18.

Hog Fact:
Another feature of the A-10's design that makes it rugged and easy to maintain in frontline positions are the skin panels. The A-10 has very few external skin panels that have a double curvature. A majority of the A-10's skin consists of simple flat plates, cylinders, or cones that require no expensive and time consuming forming in the manufacturing process and are easy to repair in the field.
