I picked up a FOV M901 (M113 with a huge TOW missle launcher) at my local TRU tonight. It is the less detailed action series version, but it stll an interesting piece. It seems to need missle tubes in the launcher though and it does not have any aerials. It tracks well, has three opening hatches, a nice detailed M60 MG and a decent commander figure. This TRU, Rockaway NJ, had about 6 of them. They also had a single LAV-25 that I snappped up. This is also the action series version and this was the first one I ever saw. It too is pretty decent. The wheels are a bit loose, but the rest of the vehicle is well done with five hatches and some decent detail parts, including wire aerials. It is in a woodland camo scheme-maybe for a peace keeping role in Bosnia...

Those have been out for a while, just they initially had spotty distribution. They are all over at the TRUs in my area, and are also at Target. I didn't really care for the M113 - since 21c offers a superior 1:32 version with full interior, IMHO. I do really like the LAV-25, however! Lots of opening hatches, the turning wheels, and accessories make it a good piece, especially for action grade. I just wish they'd added more of a troop compartment with the other rear doors opening as well. Even if you couldn't fit soldiers in it, an open troop compartment could make for some interesting display options. Still, a great piece on FOV's part.

The woodland scheme on the LAV is standard throughout the LAR Battalions. Even 3rd LAR out of 29 Palms/Okinawa has the woodland pattern. I have also seen the LAVs currently deployed to Iraq still wearing woodland camo. The only thing wrong with the paint scheme on the FOV LAV is the poor attempt at vehicle markings and the Scout Team member names on the back hatch. This particular model's paint job is a customizer's dream/headache. Lots of little things that require correction. Being able to have Scouts "popped up" in the rear roof hatches would be nice too.
If at first you don't succeed, try, try again. Then quit. No use being a damn fool about it.
