merit Announcment
Re: merit Announcment
Yeah, the F-15 would be the logical choice, since we've seen one already.
If so.. what's the hold up?

Re: merit Announcment
Harriers are technically single engine aircraft......they just have four exhaust ducts.......

oh great, we're back to the 60's then, so anything from the F100,F104, 105, 106, or A4.
Harrier's only have one engine, just four ducts, so it's still a highly unlikely possibility.
bah there goes the high hopes I had for something amazing!

Why is the Harrier that unlikely? It fits the profile better than anything everyone's mentioned.

Because it's actually a spectacular bird and an instant buy, and just based on past releases, it's never THAT good of a new mold, or it's just a re-release, or re-mold.Birddog wrote:Jolly Roger wrote:oh great, we're back to the 60's then, so anything from the F100,F104, 105, 106, or A4.

Very sorry to hear that, we never have any intension to "torture" any fellow collectors.Beeavision wrote:Well its official, this ordeal has gotten way out of control for me and the remaining level of sanity I still have left. I can't believe I'm going to to share this with you guys but oh what the heck.![]()
I had a dream....
In that dream there was two reps apparently from Merit whom I never meet before seating down at a table with a huge opened box in front of them. They were supposedly waiting to meet with someone important. The location was unclear but nevertheless that was the least of my concerns. When I approach the box one of the two reps told me to keep back as the contents in the box remained a secret. By then I was close enough to see partially what was inside. Inside there was various unpainted parts of an aircraft that appeared not fully assemble but big enough to look 1:18 in nature. Possibly a prototype. The first thing that stood out was the distinct delta wing style formation followed by the cockpit section. The first aircraft that came to mind was the B-58 Hustler. After a brief look over of the aircraft I quickly ask them how long until the announcement. They replied three more weeks.
So there you have it fellas.... I've finally crossed over the cuckoo's nest.
Actually, a few of you have already make the correct gust
1. We do have a "Money" issue,.. but that is to determine what to include with the model to keep price at a reasonable level.
2. Have been trying to remember where did we say two exhausts? We remember saying more than one exhaust but don't recall saying two exhausts.
Short of getting an Official "Green Light" and making sure that I can still keep my job,... We will expand the clues:
1. Single Seat Jet
2. Single Engine
3. In " U.S. " markings
4. More than "TWO" Exhausts

5. Semper Fi
Have a nice weekend.

My bad, I must of gotten T_H_P comment earlier mixed up with Jim's post above. You can shoot me later.Jim@Merit wrote:Birddog wrote:Wait a minute everyone, don't get disappointed just yet. This F-86 may not be the 1/18 jet Merit is going to announce......
Merit specifically said "all new tooling" regarding the two new 1/18 aircraft they are planning on releasing this year when talking about these projects on their Facebook page. We know the FW190 will be all new tooling for the model they are going to produce, so that falls in line with their comment. So unless this F-86 is from all new tooling and isn't a reproduction using existing tooling from 21st, it wouldn't fit the bill. I would think, hope, inlet covers don't justify a new tooling comment........of course we have all seen this from bbi with their recent Blackhawk release.
Maybe Jim from Merit can shed some light on the "all new tooling" comment and how it does or maybe doesn'r related to this F-86 release?Sorry, it is not a "Merit" Jet. It is a "JSI" Jet !The_Helicopter_Pilot wrote:The F-86 IS NOT the merit jet, this one is JSI, the merit jet is 2 engine, and will be announced no later the this Friday.

Re: merit Announcment
Instant buy, regardless of the price, which can't be too high, I'm guessing between 180-220$
And I'd actually be happy with repaints.
Can't believe my #2 bird is becoming reality!

Wow, a Harrier or two would look great in my collection. Don't cheap out on it. You could ask what people might like to see as accessories/features.

Re: merit Announcment
So Jim's smiley face is taken to mean the new jet is going to be a Harrier? Interesting if this proves true. It does have potential in terms of size, weapons loads, different model variations, a variety of British and US liveries to choose from. One in low-vis USMC markings would be very cool.
In any event, I'll still hold my breath for an official announcement

For a Harrier, even a die hard vehicle guy like me could be tempted. Easily....
